30 days wait until I can have access to my Microsoft account after updating security info as per Microsoft? Is this for real?

I have just updated a secondary email address as per the request and now when I try to log in it tells me there is a 30 day waiting period.. nothing about 'access to account within 24 hrs.

What is the deal pls?
