When I installed Windows 8, I used my new email address - more or less forgetting at the time that I had the other account.

There is apparently no way to merge accounts, so I figured I would delete the new account (as it had very little information attached), and then add the new email address as an alias to the old account.

I have successfully deleted the new account, but I can't add the address as an alias as it states it's "in use". Will I eventually be able to do this once something refreshes, or is that email address locked permanently?
