I'm trying to setup my Hotmail account on my brand new iPad using iOS 6.1.3.

I'm using the Hotmail option to add the account. After adding my Hotmail credentials, Mail, Contacts, Calendar, and Reminders fail to update. When I go back into Settings to double-check thing, and tap the Hotmail account, the Settings app hangs for a bit, then crashes. I try opening Mail again, and it crashes, too. I can access other settings, including the iCloud account settings under Mail. It's just tapping on the Hotmail settings that causes the problem.

This is a several years old account. So I set up a new Outlook.com account, and I'm able to add and use it without a problem. Changing the settings on the working Outlook.com account to use the Hotmail logins causes the crashing again.

The only way to remove the 'stuck' Hotmail account is to factory reset the iPad.

I believe it's something to do with specifically with my old Hotmail account. I have a paid Hotmail account, though I have no idea if that makes a difference.

I called Apple about it. And while they agree it's certainly odd (probably a bug) that the Hotmail account locks things up so badly, they say that due to the fact that I can't reproduce the issue with other Microsoft accounts, that it's an issue with my Hotmail account and that I need to contact Microsoft for assistance.

Thanks
