I have an Excel 2010 workbook stored on my SkyDrive. when I selected to open, it opens in the Excel web app. I then click on the open in Excel button expecting it to open using my full version of Excel 2010. first I received a message indicating there
may be files that can harm my computer and if I feel their suspicious do not open the file etc. etc. I click on the okay button and then receive another message box pertaining to Internet explorer security. this MessageBox asks for permission to run ' Microsoft
open XML converter' program on my system. I clicked on the allow button and aNother message box shows up indicating a file converter process is occurring. shortly thereafter a message box appears telling me the converter failed to save the file with an okay
button that must be pressed to continue.
this happens with Excel 2010 files that are either shared with me by other users or that I have saved from my own system to my SkyDrive and try to access via the web. if I access the file from my own SkyDrive directly, on my own laptop, there is
no problem in the file opens just fine.
I can download the file and work with it and then upload it, but I would prefer not to go through this process each and every time I want to work with the file, especially those that are shared with me. What is the solution? Do I need a different
XML converter? Using Windows Vista, Office 2010. Thank you for your assistance.
