Hi there,

I can't view or remove new contacts from my Live Messenger, I can use the 'Add a friend' dropdown on Live Messenger to add a contact, but they don't get a request to add me nor do they appear in the 'offline' area of Live Messenger. When I go to the 'Contacts'->'Delete A Contact...' menu I can see their details in there but can't delete them. When I click on their name to delete them, it just closes the 'Delete A Contact...' box and they are still there when I open it up again. If I try to add them as a contact again Live Messenger tells me I already have a contact with that email, and emails need to be unique. Users have tried to add me too, but I get no contact request through from them at all.

I have added contacts before, I currently have 4 people on my contact list, and these show as online/offline correctly, and I can chat with them. It's only new contacts this is happening with. I haven't made any major changes to my OS since I installed Live Messenger and added the original 4 contacts about 1 month ago.

Things I've tried;
  • I've tried adding the contacts through hotmail.com in my web browser, I can see the contacts in my 'contact list' in the browser but they still don't show up in my Live Messenger and not in the 'messenger' area of the browser when logged into hotmail.com.
  • I've tried uninstalling Live Messenger and re-installing it, but that didn't work.
  • I've also tried uninstalling the whole of Windows Live Essentials, and then re-installing Live messenger, but that hasn't helped either.
  • I've tried adding the users to my favourites, but they don't appear there either.
  • I've tried adding the users through hotmail.com and then deleting them there, but they still show up in my Live Messenger's 'Delete A Contact...' list and Live won't let me add them again as they already exist.
It seems a bit odd I can't delete the contacts to try adding them again. I'm using Live Messenger 2011 (Build 15.4.3555.308) on Windows 7

Any help would be appreciated!
