Trying to fix an issue on my fathers computer.

He's using Windows Live Mail to host his email account from the ISP (eg: *** Email address is removed for privacy ***). Personally I hate these email accounts and want him to move to a Gmail or Outlook online email account, but he wants to stick with this... Anyway, for some reason recently it keeps downloading thousands of his old emails that he's deleted. I've found other forums posts saying to right click on the Inbox or other folders, go to Properties, Synchronizing tab, then change it so that it only synchronizes new emails.

When I get him to right click on the inbox or others, and then going into Properties, this properties window only has a General tab that lets you rename the folder.

Any ideas how I can fix this? Are there other ways to change this setting.

I have an older HP Pavilion Laptop with Windows 10 installed. Recently, when I try to delete about 70 old emails in the program I get an error message dialog box "An unknown error has occurred" and I can't delete any of these message. I also cannot open these message either. New emails don't seem to be affected. This has happened before but the problem went away but happened again.  Any idea what is the cause and how to fix it?

I joined a number of Windows Live Groups several years ago (this is different from the Contact Groups you can set up now in Outlook.com - they were also called Messenger Groups).  The shared calendars for those groups are still associated with my outlook.com account and they show up in my Outlook desktop on my PC...but I don't want them too.  I'd like to leave those groups or delete them to unclutter Outlook.  However, now that the Groups service has been disabled the Support content that explains how to leave a group no longer seems relevant.  Pages like this one: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/groups-what point me to the Groups page online and say to View Groups and then leave one from there.  But the Groups page  (located within the OneDrive service) is now just a single messaging saying that you can't modify your Groups and it doesn't offer any option to leave an old group.  Dead end.

How do I leave an old group so I'm not longer seeing the shared calendars for it in Outlook?
