I seem to encounter a bug in Outlook.com after adding Google Contacts
1- Several years ago I bought a domain (say, family.com), went with Google Apps and created accounts for members of my family.
2 - I moved to Outlook.com and connected my Google Apps account (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) in order to be able to chat with my family members from there.
3- I created a Microsoft account out of my wife's Google App email address for her Windows 8 session. Therefore the email "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***" became a Microsoft account.
4- Of course, she's in my address book (People) and I talk to her on Skype/Messenger using this same email address (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***)
=> However, now this same email address cannot seem to be recognized as a Google account by Microsoft and she never appears online. In the People section, it actually does not even state that she is offline and I have no instant messenging option listed.
Moreover, when going to the Messegning History folder, I can actually see some messages she sent me (no notifications) under a weird name like *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
i would tend to think that Microsoft is therefore giving priority to Microsoft accounts made out of Google Apps email address. I may be wrong but that's what I am observing
I should add :
- I can perfectly see in Outlook.com other members of my family who are online using their own Google Apps account.
- She is listed in my Google addresse book and so I am in hers on Google Apps.
- After adding Google Contacts to Outlook.com, the People hub automatically links her Google profile to her Microsoft account in the same contact.card. Unlinking the two does not solve the problem.
Any ideas ?
