I cannot sweep my junk mail and block it. I check the boxes for all and it will take me back to the inbox and nothing happens. Please help.

I had many emails in my inbox, junk and deleted.  I have cleared my inbox and deleted box, but I cannot block my junk mail.  I do not know what to do.
