I get the following message whenever I start Live Mail

Assertion Failed: Abort=Quit, Retry=Debug, Ignore=Continue

Failed to initialize Shared Canvas: System.Runtime.InteropServices.SEHException: External component has thrown an exception.

   at WindowsLive.Writer.CoreServices.ApplicationEnvironment.Initialize(Assembly rootAssembly, String installationDirectory, String settingsRootKeyName, String productName)

   at WindowsLive.Writer.PostEditor.ContentEditorFactory.Initialize(String registrySettingsPath, IContentEditorLogger logger, IContentTarget contentTarget, ISettingsProvider settingsProvider)

    at ContentEditorFactory.Initialize(String registrySettingsPath, IContentEditorLogger logger, IContentTarget contentTarget, ISettingsProvider settingsProvider)

Abort   Retry   Ignore   
---------------------------

If I ignore, I can receive and read my  email. But if I try to reply or write a new email, I get the following similar message.

   at WindowsLive.Writer.Passport.PassportAuth.Initialize(String environment)

   at WindowsLive.Writer.PostEditor.ContentEditorFactory.Initialize(String registrySettingsPath, IContentEditorLogger logger, IContentTarget contentTarget, ISettingsProvider settingsProvider)

    at ContentEditorFactory.Initialize(String registrySettingsPath, IContentEditorLogger logger, IContentTarget contentTarget, ISettingsProvider settingsProvider)

on 2/25/14 I received the following updates:

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 on Windows 7, Vista, Server 2008, and Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2898869)
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 on Windows 7, Vista, Server 2008, and Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2901126)
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 for Windows 7 x64-based Systems (KB2858725)
Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.167.566.0)

Live Mail worked fine before those updates and hasn't worked properly since.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 and Live Mail 2012  (Build 16.4.3508.0205)
