Local backup of Skydrive files and folders?

Currently I have all my Skydrive contents synced to my MBP w/SSD drive, but at some point that may become not so useful as the SSD is only 128Gb and locally having some files on it may become a problem.

With all files synced, TimeMachine will backup those files since they are on my local drive as well as in the cloud.

But if I 'unsync' some folders at a later time, how do I ensure a local backup occurs automatically?  Or will I have to manually do it?
