I just downloaded the Movie Maker program for Windows 7 and began using it without any issues for about an hour. Randomly (or seemingly so) one of the videos I'm editing causes the internal speakers of my HP notebook to *click* and then go mute. Only the volume isn't muted and when I troubleshoot the speakers, they don't raise any red flags... yet there is no sound. No sound for any program (media player, youtube, etc.).

When I restart the computer the speakers work fine until I open Movie Maker. As soon as I press the play button in Movie Maker, I hear the *click* and all audio is impossible for all programs. I've restarted a few times and this happens each time. I've uninstalled the program and re-installed it after. Same result.

Anyone have a clue as to what is going on here?

Any recommended and free movie editing software alternatives?

Thanks!
