Hey,

I've done a lot of searching on this topic and found out a lot of people are having similar problems but no suggested solutions have worked for me so far.

I've installed Office 2011 (updated to 14.2.4) on a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.7.5 (11G63). The laptop had a previous Office 2008 installation, which was completely removed according to Microsoft's instructions (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2500821).

I imported the Office 2008 Entourage main identity to Outlook 2011. The problem is, the Outlook search function quit working - I get no results for keywords I know should bring up results, even though the messages do exist and I can manually locate them. I've done a Outlook 2011 identity rebuild a few times, even tried resetting OS X user directory permissions in recovery mode and completely re-installed Office 2011. I also rebuilt the whole hard drive's Spotlight index and have checked Spotlight settings several times and tried checking/unchecking all the options related to messages and did a reboot every time settings were changed. There are also no folders in the privacy list either that could prevent indexing in the Office folders.

I did notice a lot of Outlook error entries while browsing Console error messages:

25.10.2012 0.51.00,398 Microsoft Outlook ISGetIconFamilyFromStorage: seed mismatch for 2a97003b, actual seed is 51ead36b
25.10.2012 2.35.48,521 mdworker Error loading /Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Microsoft Outlook.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight/Microsoft Outlook.mdimporter/Contents/MacOS/Microsoft Outlook:  dlopen(/Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Microsoft Outlook.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight/Microsoft Outlook.mdimporter/Contents/MacOS/Microsoft Outlook, 262): no suitable image found.  Did find:
/Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Microsoft Outlook.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight/Microsoft Outlook.mdimporter/Contents/MacOS/Microsoft Outlook: mach-o, but wrong architecture
25.10.2012 2.35.48,522 mdworker Cannot find function pointer MetadataImporterPluginFactory for factory 0462DF4D-CF80-4D58-8E91-8AF2EC64CEDA in CFBundle/CFPlugIn 0x10351bd00 </Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Microsoft Outlook.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight/Microsoft Outlook.mdimporter> (bundle, not loaded)

Those mdworker messages about Outlook.mdimporter seem to be related to Spotlight as far as I can determine. Can anyone explain why I'm getting "wrong architecture" messages? Seems like Spotlight is trying to get the Spotlight importer running but some compatibility issue is blocking it.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on how to solve this issue, thanks!
