I sync Google Contacts (web), Galaxy S2 (Android) with Outlook 2013 desktop and outlook.com. Within Google Contacts I have created a number of custom contact groups e.g 'Friends'. These groups are visible and successfully synchronise across the aforementioned
applications and devices. I use a third-party synchronisation utility to effect the sync between Outlook 2013 and Google (web). However, when a contact is edited through outlook.com the saved change causes a new 'uncategorised' group to appear in Outlook 2013
when outlook.com syncs the change back to the desktop. The sync software can detect the creation of the new category and tags it as 'unclassified'; the revised contact will display in Google 'My Contacts' but without the original assigned category. The issue
can be attributed to the fact that outlook.com does not recognise attributed categories regardless of the source i.e. Outlook 2013, Android or Google web. Surely a development oversight? The work around is to never edit contact information in outlook.com,
but it hardly an ideal solution. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem and is there a better solution?
My question concerns Outlook and Google 'categories'
