hi I am running windows 8.1 64 bit on dell laptop and having problems getting authorization with live mail when I go into reliability monitor it shows red critical errors every day and when I check it out it says windows.communicationapp has stopped working any feedback as to cause would be brill

I'm no great expert, but from time to time I try to help my brother-in-law (nice guy but with the technical expertise of a fencepost).  He is a real old-timer, running Windows Mail (not Windows Live Mail) on a Vista PC.  He doesn't always receive emails that I (and reportedly some others) send to him, and I've been unable to work out why.  For example, I answer his emails to me using 'Reply' which I assume guarantees that there is no error in his address; and  I don't receive any 'failure to deliver' feedback messages, except his verbal ones!  So far as I know, he has no problem with sending emails.

Rather than try to tinker with his creaking email client I thought it might be better to move him to Outlook in the hope of removing this baffling symptom.  However, when I started down that route I was immediately asked for (his) Microsoft account password, which produced a new problem; he vehemently denies having any such thing.   Now I suspect he must have set up an account somewhere along the way, possibly years ago, but I'm afraid he just doesn't recognise the question.

So there seem to be 2 possible ways I can help him.

  • One is to try solving the mystery of the failure to receive emails in his present setup.  Is this a known problem with Windows Mail?  (I assume it is no longer supported)
  • The other is to persist in setting up Outlook as his email client, which means somehow getting round the admin problem of no recorded Microsoft account.  I'm sure MS themselves could help with that aspect, but is it worth it - is the likely cause deeper, so that moving to Outlook wouldn't improve matters?

    Any suggestions welcome.
WLM 2012 has a group of 5 icons to select Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Feeds and Newsgroups. These icons can be changed from a row of 5 icons on the bottom left of the screen or a column of 5 icons with text labels. How are these icons changed to either configuration?

Hi

How to subscribe to internet calendars in outlook for Mac?

I can't find the account setting for internet calendar to paste the iCal feed.

Please help.

Thank you.

I (like others) support Outlook Mac for a decent size community. We have a lot of OS switchers who complain about the lack of side-by-side view. I've submitted the feedback years back to Microsoft, and I hope it's included in the next release. Calendaring is an important part of what people use Outlook for. It'd be great to hear if that's going to be included in the next version so we can do a little marketing before the release.
I have a new Macbook Pro and have installed Office for Mac 2011 and use Outlook as my primary email system.  All seems to be working well until the last few days when I have an error message come up every few minutes as follows

'Specified string literal length exceeds maximum supported string literal length' Error code 1026.

It does not appear to be preventing emails being sent/received, but there is no further detail as to what is the cause or solution of the problem.

Would appreciate any feedback or advice.

Thanks
Hello,

Back in 2012, I had deleted my email address (hotmail) but after some time I had accessed that email address to change profile details, password
and delete unwanted emails.
BUT
I forgot to permanently delete that account again.
I believe it has been a year since I last logged in...  I cannot remember anything of that account since I changed the information to things I normally wouldn't have.
but for some reason the account is still active. I had previously created a post on Microsoft answers but I did not get any helpful feedback.
How can it be active if I never signed in again? Or can it be labelled active if I continuously attempt to login?
The email account I wanted deleted is "Removed for security purposes".
There is a lot of things on that account that like important school documentation.

It worries me because I fear someone has hacked it and gained control over it which is why its active.
I can say for certain that I had not successfully logged into that account for the 270 day period.

I really want this email address deleted please. I will provide details to the microsoft help agent.

Please help me.

Thank you

Hi,

Why can I login to my email account on Outlook.com but not on Windows Live Mail 2012 on my laptop? What does this scenario point to as to what the problem might be?

I've had this problem since last Sunday on a Hotmail account I've had since 2005 and I've spent a week posting here on MS Community -- a moderator sent me a private message on y original question posting on this issue, I replied and I have had no response since except from other users who have the same problem.

I opened a support ticket and I've been back and forth with a different support person each time and each time they ask me to restate my issue all over again -- even though the whole history of the issue is in the ticket.  Each one tells me to do the same thing and I keep telling them I've done all of it but can't get any further. They asked me to fill in a questionnaire so they could verify the account is mine but when I fill it in and press submit -- nothing happens.  I asked them if I could give them the answers directly into the support ticket as it's meant to be a secure area but I've heard nothing back.

Another user who had the same problem as me managed to fix the issue but removing the email account in Windows Live Mail locally on their PC and add it back in and use their current password and it worked for them.  I tried this but unfortunately it has not worked for me and now all my emails that I had  downloaded up to the time I started having issue are gone as well as my contacts from my laptop (but still on the outlook server).

I've spent all week so far on support tickets and trying to get someone to help but I'm not further along than I was last Sunday when it starting happening. I have three other email accounts (2 Hotmail and 1 Live) linked together in Windows Live Mail 2012 and the others work fine.

My email account exists -- as I can access it on Outlook.com so it's not that I'm using a none existent address.

Can anyone tell me why I can log on to the affected account on Outlook.com but not on my laptop? Windows Live Mail doesn't recognise the password no matter how many times I've tried to reset it.  Now, since I can still log in on outlook I don't want to try resetting it again in case something goes wrong and I end up not being able to login to it even on outlook.com. If the password is recognised by OUtlook.com surely it is a valid password and something is wrong at the Windows Live Mail end -- but what?!

I'M VERY FRUSTRATED AND...I'm getting really desperate!!

I'd appreciate if someone could help cut through all the back and forth and gave me some meaningful feedback on what the problem might be and how to fix it....please.

P.S. If you're a moderator and you respond with a private message can you please include instructions on how to retrieve the private message as I don't seem to have a private message tab on my profile.
