After upgrading my PC to Win 8.1 I faced problems with the Skydrive Sync. I decided to format my harddisk and perform a fresh install of Win8 / Win8.1upgrade. Only then I connected my MS Online Account and started to sync the content of my Skydrive. I did this by switching on: "Access all my files offline" in Skydrive options.

Indeed it started to sync my files (approx. 50GB). It let it run for a couple of days. (Note: I am using a 75 Mbit/s Downlink Internet connection, so syncing 50 GB should have taken only about 18 hours...)

After a few days it stopped syncing.

Here is what I observed:

I looked in my Skydrive folder in Desktop-Explorer. Most folders in there still show the "2-round-arrows" smybol on them, indicating that sync is in progress. Strange: If I open these folders I see all contained files without the arrow-symbol, presumably they are local already.

I checked the properties of my sykdrive folder in Windows desktop: The "Size" is about 53 GB and the "size on disk" is about 51 GB - Looks like most of it is synced.

I looked in the task manager: "Skydrive Sync Engine Host" is shown running. But now it utilizes 0% CPU and 0% Network resources. During the days of syncing it used to utilize about 8% CPU and 13% network.

Once I got a crash message "Skydrive Enginge Host stopped working". I rebooted the PC and never saw the message again.

In the "ModernUI" Skydrive App I see in the top right corner "2 actions in progress". By clicking on it I see "Uploading (8) Download (16)". This has not changed for days.
Now I have copied even a lot more files into my skdrive folder on the desktop, but these files are not even shown in the upload task of Skydrive app.

After copying a lot more files in my skydrive folder I checked the task manager again: Only the Microsoft Search Indexer showed notable activity. The Skydrive Sync Engine Host is still at 0% CPU and 0% network.

I ran the troubleshooter from the MS FAQ page. (At the bottom of: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/skydrive-app-faq). No change.

For test purposes I uploaded a file using the web frontend on skydrive.com. This file does not appear in my local skdrive directory.

How can re-animate the synd process?
