Hi,

I have just started using Windows Live Mail 2012 with Windows 7, and generally very happy with it. One slight annoyance is what happens when I double click on the new mail notification icon (the one with the yellow envelope in front of the blue one). This takes me to the inbox of the default email account, even if the new mail has arrived in one of my other email accounts! When there is no new mail, double clicking this icon (blue envelope only) takes me to whatever folder/account I was last viewing (which makes sense). Ideally I would like the new mail notification icon to take me to the Quick views/Unread email folder. Is this possible?

Regards,

Adrian

<Windows 7>

Recently, when I try to send an email, the address of a particular contact ALREADY appears in the address line! How do I get rid of this annoyance?
It appears that Outlook 2011 (up to date with patches) will not receive mail from a server with a self-signed (and therefore not trusted) certificate. When I send mail I am prompted to trust it or not: This works, but when Outlook is quit and relaunched, the trusted state is forgotten (this might be a problem with Apple Keychain).  It's an annoyance, but at least I can send mail.

In receiving, I am not prompted at all, and no mail arrives. No error is written to the Errors window. Also, when sending or receiving, Outlook usually has a progress indicator in the lower right.  It's there for sending, but nothing happens at all when I click "send & receive" and there's nothing to send.

When I select Tools > IMAP Folders, the server appears on the left, but no folders appear on the right. (I can view them in Apple Mail.) I have compared my settings to a document I maintain of email server settings, and everything matches. The server does not use nonstandard port numbers.

And finally, I noted that when I view the settings in the Preferences window there is a yellow dot next to the server name. I'm assuming that yellow means a problem is indicated.

With much trepidation I upgraded my entire studio over the weekend (26 installs) to 14.2.2

Using a hybrid upgrade strategy I managed to do this in 4 hours without issue

EXCEPT! My 7 28" iMacs with SSD drives all asked for the Office 2011 serial number

Not a great problem, but just an annoyance and something to keep in mind if you are contemplating updating to 14.2.2 on a Mac with an SSD Drive

Oh, and two macs also now refuse to print to our Canon CLC4040 colour laser printer from Outlook

But that's another story....
