I had sent an email to a company on April 30, 2013 that had two attachments containing a list of the vitamins that I am on. I thought that list of Vitamins was sent although I did not hear back from the company that I had emailed, I was not overly concerned. I went to that email and found that trhe attachments with my list had been removed. That list was important to me for medical reasons. This is what I found. Prohibited file type and the attachments were considered dangerous. ???? I need that list and I was not notified . Why would any of this happen? What is dangerous about vitamins? Please help me ascertain what is going on. I am not sure that Windows Live Mail is safe after this.. I am sick about it.
I am using Microsoft Outlook 2007 and emailing an excel spreadsheet and a one page pdf file. Anyone who uses Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail is unable to receive the attachment.
I have checked with my email service provider and their system shows that the email goes through their firewall and virus software and is delivered with the attachment, but the recipient does not get the attachment. they can't even see the attachments at all.
Since I use Windows Mail at home I tested this. I unchecked the "Don't allow attachments" box and still could not receive the attachments. All attachments are either .xlsx, .xls or .pdf files. Two weeks ago I could get the attachments at my home email and had no problem accessing them. As of last week I have had probably 25 people who use Windows live or Windows mail tell me there is nothing attached to my email.
What happened? and how do we fix? Again, the box is unchecked to allow all attachments to come through and this is not working.

I am unable to download attachments, photos etc which I have send to my self as an example.
Why I check the help link which is attached to my mail, I get the following which is an except only from the full answer.
............... If Mail blocks an attachment that you receive, the warning Prohibited file type is displayed in the message header, and the attachment can't be downloaded or opened.
.........o always allow all types of attachments, you can change this setting in Safety options. After changing this setting, you will be able to download and open all...........
MS give me the instructions to open and change the settings as follows:---
- Open Windows Live Mail by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Mail, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Live Mail.
On the Home tab, click Junk, and then click Safety options.
Click the Security tab, and then, under Virus protection, clear the check box next to Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus, and then click OK.
Thanks Colin
I have downloaded windows live mail 2012 and everything is working fine - except- Am receiving e-mails but not their attachments. Could anyone help?
[Original title: Windows live mail]
Since exporting the olm froze Outlook I resorted to creating an IMAP account and copying folders from the POP account into it. Recently alot of the emails disappeared from the server folders so I went back and repeated that process. I also copied each folder to a desktop folder making .mbox files of them as a backup. Upon importing these folders I noticed .mbox files don't retain subfolder emails and also lose attachments in the emails it does keep.
This causes a problem since some of the folders are no longer in the pop account to drag and drop to the IMAP. Yes I had to delete some regrettably due to the enormous amount of folders. No point in importing .mbox and .eml since they don't keep attachments.
I'm currently trying to export the OLM again from a backed up pop copy but don't have my hopes up. Just looking for advice on how to get these pop folders, sub-folders and emails back into the imap account with the attachments and email body in original condition. mbox and .eml have been useless.
Thanks
