Hi,
I went to redownload an app (adobe reader) and had to accept the new Microsoft terms of service but couldnt because apparently my account is a child account. I sorted out the terms of service by logging in as my mum to verify/accept on my behalf, but I want to know how to remove this restriction. When I opened my account I was a child, however now I am 19 and it is really frustrating when I can't do simple things like accept the new terms of service without jumping through hoops. I went to manage my account and couldnt find anything, I went to manage my mums account and found a section about child accounts but there were none listed. Also in my account I can create child accounts, which would be strange/stupid if my account was actually a child account.
I remember having this issue a while back when something changed with Xbox and I thought I had fixed it when I got the onlinesettings on the Xbox to be that of ah adult account but obviously not.
Thanks in advance for any help.
James
I cannot find a workaround anywhere. I tried doing an account recovery, but all that did was let me change the password. I still get a screen that says "You need a parent's permission." I then get asked to provide my credit card information, my address, etc. and pay $0.50! It's never been a child account, so I shouldn't be forced to verify it as such. Does anyone know where I can go to regain access to my account? I've only seen found link where moderators said to go in a separate thread, but those links are broken. Please help, as I cannot get my emails anymore.
Thanks
I am an adult. I had to reestablish my account by giving acredit card number but now my date of birth is incorrect. How do update the correct DOB

I'm trying to allow my son's email account - the "verify you're an adult" stage keeps failing with the message:
When you verify your age with a credit card, Microsoft charges the card a one-time fee of $0.50 (50 cents), and a portion of the fee is donated to charity.

I tried yesterday and again today but it is still failing. Can this be fixed please?
