While signing in for the first time to LiveMail with my Comcast account, I spelled my name incorrectly. In an attempt to fix the mistake, I created a new Comcast email name with the correct spelling. That didn't work, so I cancelled both. The name with the correct spelling is now blocked by Microsoft because the system thinks it's already taken, and I've been told it's blocked for 365 days! Help! Is there any way I can get permission to reestablish this correct email name, because without it, I can't get signed in to LiveMail to receive updates, etc...

I am another Comcast customer and started having a problem some time during the day yesterday. In the morning everything worked. Now I have all my mail downloaded but there is NO message list or preview pane in either of two accounts.  I can see the most recent on screen as if opened, but cannot access anything prior to its arrival - unless I delete it!  I have unanswered mail that I cannot answer.  Someone suggested a system restore but I will lose all the mail downloaded in that time and it no longer exists on the Comcast server.  I use Norton security suite supplied by Comcast but that does not appear to be an issue - but Comcast is - they will not handle it unless I sign up for their paid "signature" support -  if they even know how!

PS - you cannot notify me at my Comcast address for obvious reasons!!!!!

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.  I have checked with Comcast and all settings to and from the Server are correct.  I have run the Windows repair for WLM, scanned the computer for viruses, etc., but still get the error message.  E-mails are going into my Comcast.net account, but not coming over into WLM.  Have also tried selecting and deselecting the "work offline" option.  No luck.  What's next???  Thanks.

I have now provided a copy of the error message I receive.

The connection to the server has failed.

Connection timed out.

A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or the established connection failed because the connected host has failed to respond.

I have reconfigured it 3x with Comcast to no avail.  Called Microsoft - no phone assistance.  Comcast thinks it has been corrupted and Microsoft would help.  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Comcast, my mail host, no longer supports Port 25 for my outgoing mail.  What can Iuse instesd?  I tried port 465 but that didn't work either. Here is the error message I receive:

The connection to the server has failed.

I tried using 465 as the port, as Comcast suggested, but that didn't work either.  They said it is a Microsoft issue.  Can you help me?

I can send a single email, and exit the Windows Live Mail program. The next time I try to access the program I only get a small window which says, Windows Live Mail. Below that it says, "Sending email using Comcast (j78b)..." Below that it says "Not Connected". Then there is a green stripe filling a long box. If I click on "Details", below that are two tabs. The one marked "Errors" just displays an empty box. The one marked "Tasks" always shows two entries:

Send 1 message(s) using Comcast (j78b).          Completed

Send 1 message(s) using Comcast (j78b).          Executing

The first entry has a check-mark in front of it.

The second entry has a small triangle in front of it.

That's where it hangs. The only way to "cure" the problem is to reboot, but then it recurs.

This problem just surfaced spontaneously today, after I had restored some email files which got deleted accidentally, using Carbonite.

Please tell me what is going on, and what to do about it. If I reinstall Windows Live Mail, will it wipe out all my email messages? Of course, I'd rather not go that route!

I started to receive a ton of e-mail this morning to my Comcast e-mail account. It appears it was being sent to various people, none of them me. I contacted Comcast customer support and they said that all e-mails from this hotmail e-mail address (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) are being resent to my comcast account. I've setup a rule to move it to my spam folder but I'm wondering if there is anyway to permanently stop it from coming it at all and removing my e-mail address that is being used to resend all of these e-mails to.

Please click on the error message to select it, then use right-click to copy it and paste it into a reply here. There can be no troubleshooting without seeing the entire error message.

Recently I started having issues with Windows Live Mail, I now cannot send from my comcast address or my own website address, both of which I receive just fine. I can still send from my hotmail address, which is also received through Windows Live Mail. When I click on the Properties tab (under Accounts) to check the settings, which is suggested, it will not open.  Any help available with this issue?  thank you.
