Question about Outlook Express

I spent all night migrating/copying all my father's, ALL (30 years of computer files) to the Cloud, and I bought him a new P.C. which was Windows 8, which I upgraded to Windows 8.1 (Blue) afterwards, and because there are so much files on it it took so long to gather all the data and send it to the Cloud and connect between the devices. After doing all of that I started moving all his old programme files, and I completely installed the Windows Essentials, there seem to be 2 versions, but both act as if a file is missing, I get an error report, but both are ''unknown error'', after I upgraded his P.C. to Windows 8.1 (Blue) SkyDrive seemed to function but the rest don't.
