I own a custom domains account and one of my domains (unicefoncampuslincoln.co.uk) is giving me issues. We are a university society for the UNICEF International charity. We hold fundraising events in the city of Lincoln. We have a mailing list of 264 people (at the time of writing). We use a custom coded software to send out emails regarding our event announcements (usually 2 emails per week). All of the people in this list OPTED IN to receiving mail.

However, our accounts are restricted to 100 emails per day, meaning we have to send 100 from the first account, 100 from another and 64 from another. This is only the case if the accounts in question havent already been replying to mail that day, if they've already been replying to regular email then we sometimes have to use 4 accounts. Sometimes when sending these mails, outlook see's "suspicious activity", even though the emails are being sent form the same IP they usually are, and locks the account. This is rather annoying because it causes our software to spit dozens of 251 or 250 errors back, and requires us to login to the account on a browser and re-activate it, to the continue to send emails.


Is there any way we can have the limit increased? 100 emails is not very many at all. Also given that the emails are sent to the same group of accounts (albeit some are added every time) I would have thought the system would realise.

I was wondering what the user account limit was for custom domains? I've read it's initially 500 but I was wondering if that count can increase to 7,000? my company is deploying a new website and internal users will need email. we can't spend the money to deploy new hardware to support that many users so we're thinking about creating a new smtp domain and having it hosted by hotmail. Any input in welcomed, thanks.

First of all thank you for the great service you are providing with domains.live.com & Outlook.com

I have a several question regarding custom domains with outlook.com

1- Is it possible to import all emails (with all folders) to custom domain email account including the existing contacts & email attachments ?
2- What is the email/mailbox maximum size with the free service (domains.live.com & Outlook.com) /email user ? GB ?
3- how to assign another custom domain administrator if I have many custom domains under 1 *** Email address is removed for privacy *** ?

Please advice ASAP.

As far as I can tell, there are only very very light duty management tools for outlook.com custom domains.

Create an account
Suspend an account
Delete an account

I don't see any way to reset the password, for instance.

Part of the reason we have company email is that if a person leaves, the company still has access to the emails which the leaving person received from and sent to customers.

Are there workarounds, or are more advanced management features on the way?
So far my tests with outlook.com have been successful. I am considering switching a small company's email to outlook.com. But the switch is premised on outlook.com for custom domains remaining free. Otherwise I'd probably use google apps, which I know better. Has Microsoft stated that outlook.com for custom domains will remain free 'forever'?

I'm thinking of switching from Google Apps to Windows Live/Outlook.com custom domains, but I still want to keep my current @outlook.com/@hotmail.com email address. What will happen to them when I enable the custom domain, and is IMAP available for those as well?
