I want to setup a non-profit I support with Outlook.com's custom domains, but, our website uses CDO's to send emails to people when they register for events.  I didn't want to risk messing up the email systems, so I bought a domain and got it setup with Outlook.com.  My question is, what smtp server do I use?  I turned on POP access to the account and when I went through the help on how to setup apps using POP it provided an SMTP address of: 
smtp-mail.outlook.com

The ports, SSL, etc... are all setup correctly.  But, when the webpage that is trying to send an email through this SMTP address runs, I get the error '80040211' which means there was a problem with the SMTP server.

Is there a way to use CDO to send emails from this website through our custom domain outlook.com?

I read an article the other day which talked about Outlook.com and custom domains.  Brilliant, I thought and I set up my custom domain and re-routed my random emails to the new custom email address.  At this point I was feeling pleased with myself.  Only then did I realise my folly!

 

When I log in to Windows8, it connects to my primary email address, so when I use the web interface of outlook.com it defaults to that and not my shiny new one.  So I changed the email address connected to my user profile on my laptop.

 

Sadly this means that SkyDrive is now trying to upload 40GB+ of stuff to my new SkyDrive account, making my subscription useless.  I can't change SkyDrive back to the old username, because I'm logged in to windows with the new one.

 

If I get rid of my old primary email, that will factory reset my Windows Phone. 

 

An integrated ecosystem is great, but there is something missing here!

 

Ideally, I'd kill my custom email address, then recreate it as an alias on my main Microsoft account and then change it to be my primary alias, but I'm not sure that's possible using the outlook.com custom domain tools.

Are you able to enable the "Reset password" option for my all custom domains account in Admin Center?

If able to enable it, will the "Reset password" option become as default function? or I have to request every time for each domain?

I have several custom domains through domains.live.com. I created accounts *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, me@domainc.com.

I formerly had them linked. Now I want to add these as aliases to a primary account. (Primary account with aliases me@domaina.comme@domainb.com, me@domainc.com).

I have deleted the orginal accounts and have tried to add as aliases. I can't properly verify the account. I get an error that the service is temporarily unavailable.

Question: How long does it take to free up me@domaina.com, me@domainb.com, me@domainc.com accounts to add as aliases? I have seen both 30 days and 365 days.

Got very critical behavior in my Custom Domains mailbox.

 

Got enabled Custom Domains for my domain tvrabec.com with mail address *** Email address is removed for privacy *** and alias *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

 

Got also e-mail address at Apple iCloud - *** Email address is removed for privacy *** which is set to forward all emails to my domain - *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

 

And here comes the problem. Not all mails are received. On the iCloud site, everything is sent/forwarded.

 

But Outlook.com DROPPING! some mails, before them reach my mailbox. Its random domains, random senders, random subjects.

 

Situation became critical in last few days, when was droped mails from bank agent about my mortgage and insurance.

 

Checked manually iCloud account - emails was received and forwarded to my domain, but them not appear in domain. Neither in SPAM, Inbox, Junk, Delete - simple nowhere. Droped before reached my mailbox.

 

This behavior is very very very critical, I am also communicating with Apple support, but we both are sure, that mails are sent from iCloud correctly (also never faced to this issue when mails were forwarded to Google Apps before I switch to Microsoft).

 

Please let me know how to solve this issue, I don't want to go back to shity Google.
