Hi guys,

First, thanks in advance for any help / advice.

I just did a clean re-install of my laptop.

1) WLM 2012 works fine for mail functions, but calendars do not sync,.

They are visible in outlook.com and in the data folders, I see my original calendar data files.

How do I link the current calendar data file to the old calendar data files?

2) How do I identify which of my folders are the actual current data files?

Even the old data files appear to be being accessed on a regular basis, based on last modified dates.

Thanks!

I cleaned up my computer and accidentally moved my "Outlook Files" folder.  My email stopped working and I received the message:  Task '*** Email address is removed for privacy *** – Sending' reported error (0x8004010F): 'Outlook data file cannot be accessed' (and a similar one for receiving).

After a great deal of fussing with the program I finally realized what had happened and moved the folder back where it belongs.  Meanwhile I had created a new profile, but have now set it back to the original profile.  It still doesn't work (ie, won't send or receive emails; I still get the same error message).

I have another data file directly in my Documents folder which the program also accesses.  That stuff is showing up okay.  I would really like the program to just work off that one data file, but haven't been able to figure out how to make it do that.

If I go into my "Outlook" profile (the original one), it lists three data files:  two of them are identical, the one in my Documents folder.  The other one is My Outlook Data File(1).pst in the Outlook Files folder.   I set one of the ones in the Documents folder to the default (the other one won't allow me to do so) and it still acts the same.

The problem is that I really don't have a clue what I am doing.  We have profiles, data files, defaults, accounts and all this stuff that I don’t know how it all fits together.  Does it all have to be so confusing?  Can someone explain in simple terms how this works so that it can make sense to my simple mind?

I restarted my Outlook 2010 Outlook.com account today and when I began I already had a data file present because when I shut it down a while back Outlook would not let me delete the remaining data file. Something about having a place to store messages. Anyway I created my Outlook.com account and now I have 2 data files, the original which is default and the new one which really doesn't have a file location and it says it is not available. This is a part of Outlook I am yet to understand. My default data file is the one where the messages are stored why is the other one even important. I went to delete the one that was just created and says not available next to it, but it brought up a box that says,"One or more of my accounts are delivering messages to this data file. If I close or move this data file, your accounts that deliver messages here are updated to deliver new messages to my default data file. Do I wish to continue?" I was going to click yes but I thought I would wait till I got an answer from someone in the know. Should I delete the data file that says not available or leave it?
