Hello, I recently moved domains and my DNS changed on my domain

now a lot of users are saying they cannot receive emails

I have updated the DNS and it says mail active and domain active in domains.live.com

Any idea why this is?

Yesterday I went to domains.live.com and added a domain there to be managed.

I updated the MX entry in the DNS to match the data displayed.  Within a few minutes it had updated in that a third party check site could see the DNS entries and they match what the system tell me to do.

Live.com requests I set this:

  • DNS record type: MX
  • Host: <mydomain>.com
  • MX server: <myid>.pamx1.hotmail.com
  • TTL: 3600 or 1 hour
  • Priority: 10 (or High priority)

Third party MX record check site shows this:

    Priority: 20

    MX Host: <myid>.pamx1.hotmail.com

    TTL: 24 hrs

    <myid> is 100% correct.

So... why does it not validate in the domains website?  I left it a day in case the Microsoft system was not rechecking the DNS servers directly but instead might be using cached DNS data.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I have a client domain that I'm trying to activate through DNS records for Windows Live Domains. Previously this has not been a problem but this particular domain only recently transferred into me, and we are planning to migrate them from a legacy mail environment to Outlook.com.

The problem is I seem to be unable to activate the domain through the DNS records that I usually would, to enable a staged migration. The system says the service for the domain is suspended, and I must add the relevant DNS records - which exist and I have full control over, but I cannot yet override the existing primary MX delivery.

Please help to activate my domain to give the 30 days grace before the primary MX record points at Outlook.com.

    Regards,

    Matt.
I have this configured in my DNS. I do not want to add email and MX until I have user accounts created and some mobile phone issues resolved.

    Prove domain ownership (optional)
If you would like to prove the ownership of domain and create users without setting up mail, you can use one of the following methods for up to 30 days. After 30 days, you will need to set up an MX record for mail routing as shown above.
If your domain registrar allows you to create TXT records, use these settings:
    • DNS record type: TXT
    • Host: stipe.co
    • Value: v=msv1 t=f556dd14265d7f4095bd38ad5ee87b

The TXT records is live (see http://www.whatsmyip.us/txt:stipe.co) yet when I hit Refresh, the error will not go away.

Am I doing something wrong? What do I need to do next? Please note: I DO NOT want to change MX at this time.
