My Windows Live associated account will no longer sync

My preinstalled Windows Live has been associated with my email account since I purchased my ASUS laptop months ago. Two days ago I noticed that only about half of the email messages showing on my Smartphone were showing in my computer's inbox. The next day, my messages stopped syncing entirely and when I manually try to sync, it tells me that my email account is unavailable. In the email account settings, everything continues to look correct. I am perplexed - and FRUSTRATED! Can anyone help me?

Email account settings deleted when Outlook is Eacclosed

I have to re-enter my account settings every time I open Outlook in order to receive emails but when I close it, the account is deleted again.   Please help!

Thank you for the advice.    My MacBook wouldn't allow me to follow all the steps you recommended but I eventually found the Microsoft Database Utility, highlighted the only identity listed as "main identity"and clicked on "rebuild".   This seems to have worked and my email account no longer disappears when I close Outlook.   Thank you again.
