Greetings.

I have a hotmail account since last decade, and I migrated it to Outlook.com recently.
The issue with my account has happened recently: When I link my account to any desktop email client (MS Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail, etc.) It only shows email from 2006, as the attachment shows.
just to be clear, the email works fine on mobile clients such as Andorid's or iOS's native ones or in my Nokia Lumia, as well as on the desktop windows 8 native client.

Hope for a soon answer about this issue, thanks for great service.

Best Regards.

Hi,

I have registered my domain in "Windows live admin" to manage my mail with a personalized domain.
Email accounts are created and working.
I haven't found though settings (server, ports, imap or exchange) for an externail email client which in my case is Outlook2011 for Mac.

Can you help with those?
Thanx

Original Title: windows live admin outlook settings
I recently changed my laptop to one using Windows 8. I began to use my Outlook.com account for some email while still using Outlook 2007 as my primary email client.

Shortly after starting to use Outlook.com on Win 8, I was presented with a request to enable two factor identification. I suspect I made a mess of this process as I am now not able to get into my Outlook.com email using my email address and the original password I set when I transferred from Hotmail.

As far as I know, I have not defined any other passwords. Can someone please advise me how I can get back into my account? Many thanks, John
I recently upgraded to Windows 8 and installed Windows Live Mail as my email client. I set up 3 email accounts within it. As I have an SSD with limited space I followed the instructions given in several on-line tutorials to re-locate the Mail Store folder. I re-named the old one Windows Live Mailstore .old. My new mailstore folder has my initials after it to remind me that it's the new one.
Every time I open the program, there is no mail in any of the three accounts. It all starts to then download, which takes a long time. The window says checking new email, but the messages are not new, just the ones in the mail store. My Gmail account, which is I note set up as imap, rather than pop3 which the other two are, does not download any message, but rather a message which says:
WLM needs to download the folders before you can read the messages ... Click to download
I wanted to use WLM as it has a nice simple interface, but I'm afraid I'll have to abandon it in favour of Outlook unless someone can suggest what's going wrong.
Also I should add that it does seem to be having trouble with the path to the new Store folder which it says it has to rebuild at each start up. There's a lot of mail and it isn't going to be possible to keep the store on the SSD. Why is it having so much trouble with his?

I have a friend whose email contributions from his work email address aren't being delivered to my hotmail address, nor my wife's hotmail address.  His emails neither appear in our inboxes, our junk folders, nor (though I can't imagine why they would be) our deleted messages folders.  I know that his emails are being sent from his domain mailserver because we are receiving copies of his emails in the content of emails being sent by other participants in the same email threads using "Reply All".  So not only are his messages definitely being delivered to everyone else on the thread who aren't using a hotmail account like my wife and I (most of the other addresses in the email threads are gmail accounts though some are unrelated work accounts), but his email client does appear to have a valid record of our addresses as "Reply All"s to his messages are reaching our hotmail accounts without issues.  We first noticed this about two weeks ago, and since then we've experienced it with 4 or 5 distinct email threads (with distinct participant addresses) as well as experimented with targeted emails from his account to just either one of us - we have yet to receive an email from him in any capacity (inbox, junk, etc.)

I am only just now learning that Microsoft doesn't seem to provide direct support for this application, and unless someone else out there has experienced the same phenomenon, I doubt this is something "the community" can resolve, but I guess this is all Microsoft is offering.  Hopefully someone can help shed some light on this.

Thanks in advance for your help,

- Phillip

Edit: I should point out that we have a lengthy (1-2 years) history of having received emails from his current work email address without any issues.  It's only been the last 2 weeks or so that his emails to our Hotmail addresses have disappeared into the ether.
Keep getting messages from both devices saying sending failed.

I lost a few months of emails from my live.com account.

The emails were stored in offline folders on my local email client but I lost everything on that computer when the hard drive died.

My live.com account is working fine now, but I REALLY need my emails from August 2012  through January 2013 that were 'permanently' deleted to be restored.

These emails contain important personal and business infomation that I never backed up anywhere else.

Please restore these emails to my live.com account or contact me to let me know what options might be available.  There is some very crucial information that I need to get to.

I am willing to pay for Microsoft Support for this since I realize this issue is my fault and probably not covered by regular, free live.com support.

Thank you!

Starting about 1:00 am Sunday outlook.com stopped retrieving emails from AT&T U-Verse/Yahoo.  Going into options there was a message next to the account that stated  the following message:

There was a problem getting messages from your other accounts.

I went into accounts and the AT&T/Yahoo account had the error and the details stated:

7/21/13 We couldn't get your messages: Make sure your user name and password are correct.

Sorry to say that no my credentials are not incorrect, I tested by using a local email client using the same credentials and I was able to get pop access to my email.   I would say that with the time frame (usually a maintenance window) that either Microsoft or Yahoo changed something that prevents mail being received at Outlook.com

My number one issue is getting this working again and Microsoft and AT&T Yahoo doesn't provide any type of real support options.

My second  issue is why did I have to dig all the way down into settings to find out that Outlook.com is having trouble.  Couldn't they have put a message on the main email page?

What can be done to get resolution to this issue?

Thanks...

I can access outlook.com a/c from web browser but when I try to set up from an email client, I get error message saying that login/password is wrong.

How can I resolve this?

“Pictures . . . could not be found” is nonsense!

In WLMail, when I forward an email containing pictures dispersed within the text, I get the message - - -

One or more of the pictures in this message could not

be found. When you send this message these pictures

will not be included. Are you sure you want to send this

message?

                        Yes                 No

Nonsense! WLMail can and does find these pictures, and it does send them, but not as the sender intended.

What WLMail can not and will not do is keep the pictures dispersed within the text as they are before the email is forwarded.

Instead WLMail bastardizes the email before it is sent, includes all pictures as attachments at the top of the message, and completely destroys the original layout.

As far as I know, WLMail is the only email client/program that does this.

I guess the big question is why? And why has this not been rectified? Seriously.

I could hazard a guess, but what is really needed is an answer from Microsoft.
