I am running WLM Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3528.0331).

I don't want to disable the automated Emoticons feature in WLM, but how do I undo this feature on a 1 by 1 basis in each email? Certain combinations of letters & symbols automatically insert an Emoticon at the cursor point - '(s)' inserts a half moon, for instance. How do I revert to '(s)'?

How or where can I get better emoticons for outlook.com? The current emoticons are a step down from what was given in Microsoft Hotmail.
When composing an outlook.com email from the safari browser running in "private" mode on a mac ... 2 functions don't work.

  1. Insert Emoticons - the list of emoticons doesn't display.
  2. Attachments - when you insert -> files as attachments you get the message "We're still getting set up. Please try again"
These 2 functions work when not running Safari in "private" mode
Since outlook took over, when I try to put an emoticon in my email, the emoticons drop down and cover my email.  They are not on the side like they should be.  My email takes up the entire screen and the emoticons are over the top and drop down.  Then I have to save my email each time in order to get back to it so I can continue typing.  Any suggestions as to how to fix this?  Thanks.

Created custom emoticons back when msn instant messenger was active.  Things like hi would create a cat waving, hello would show a hand waving back and forth side to side.

But when using msn to type a letter, typing hello would create 5 or 6 pictures of each of the motions of a hand waving.

It is on;y inthis wndows vista computer. Is there a way to remove the custom emoticons from this msn program. The glitch is only in the msn portion of the computer, and only when typing a letter with msn.

Original title: custom emoticons

I like my emoticons and I want to keep them in the transition to Skype.. Is that possible?
I used to be able to use the emoticons when writing an email. I can no longer find them. Does anyone know where they are?

Please tell me where to locate the file where the custom emoticons for Windows Live. I have browsed, searched whole computer and nothing that says anything regarding emoticons.

I appreciate any help possible!

I have added some more emoticons to my existing ones in MSN but when i try to send them to my friends it doesn't show them as pictures and it just show as letters  .but in my laptop it showing as pictures?????
My custom emoticons do not show up as pictures, only key strokes.  They used to show me the picture both outgoing and incoming.  Now all i get are the key strokes...
