can’t send e-mails with emotions

When I put an emotion at the end of an e-mail it's stays in the outbox without sending. I get an error message saying it has been recognixed as spam. If I delete the emotion it send's right away. What the heck is going on. These are the standard emotions that come with the windows mail program.

Emotions won’t show in IM

When I type :-) it shows just that....my emotions no longer display even when I click on one it converts it to symbols.  How can I fix this?
