I have Family Safety set up for my 13 year old. When I first set it up it worked the way it was supposed to. He would get a message if he tried to log on early or his time was up and the activity report told me every site he went to and when. However, the last few weeks I've noticed it isn't reporting activity when I know he's on the computer and I've found that he can get on anytime any day even though curfews are set. I even reset it and tested it myself today by logging in on his account when he isn't supposed to be able to and it let me right in and stay in. no message ever came up.  Why has it stopped working?
Hi,

A short while ago I had a problem with Family Safety which was being worked on in the following discussion:-

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-security/family-safety-sign-in-hangs/99400114-4132-4bd5-9cdb-459171507b60?page=3

I was told to come back at anytime if I had any further issues (which I now have) but the above discussion is closed for further updates.

IS it possible to get it re-opened? I now have a problem whereby Family Safety has stopped working altogether. My weekly activity report say "No activity" and if I login into Family Safety it says that there is not activity reported there also.

Thank you.
Hi, I've been using the Family Safety software suite included with Microsoft Essentials for filtering/blocking purposes with the computer of a child I tutor. Recently, as in only the last couple of days, the "Block Everything" or whatever it is called stopped functioning; I can see that he has been on a ton of websites that I definitely did not add to the allowed list. I've worked with parental control software before, so the first thing I looked for was plugins that might be having a negative effect on the software; nothing.

The browser being used is Mozilla Firefox, updated to the latest version. The OS is Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

Any help would be greatly appreciate; without the parental controls my student will not be allowed to use his computer on the internet without supervision, and his mother cannot devote that kind of time to watching him.

Thanks so much!

PS: Family Safety isn't an option in the Products list when posting this, so I put it where I thought the second best place was.

hi,

I have recently installed family safety using windows 7, but have noticed that the only facebook activity showing says 'redirecting', nothing else is being shown although I know it is being used often.

When I navigate to fss.live.com and type in my password I get to a very plain page that says

You need to be signed in with a parent's account to make changes on the Family Safety website.

I need some help in resolving this issue.

Thanks

I want to add a shortcut alon Outlook, People, Calendar and Skydrive... on outlook.com shortcut bar on top...

Hi,

I''ve downloaded Family safety, setup my account, applied test policies to my machine, and everything was working fine, i then logged into the family safety web page, allowed more sites to the filter and rebooted the client machine, however now i can't log into family safety with the client machine, it comes up stating there is a server error and that MS are working on fixing it, please try again in a few minutes... this has been like this for the last two days now, so i've tried another internet connection on the machine with the same error. also when i use a wireless connection instead of LAN FS states there is no internet connection which is incorrect as i can surf the net fine.

i've installed FF on another computer and get the exact same problem with logging in.

is there a problem with the servers on MS's side?

Related to: Family Safety: Frequently Asked Questions

I have installed Microsoft Family Safety on two (One Windows XP Professional, one Windows 7) of 4 computers (two others - one is XP Pro, other is WIndows 7) in my home, and as soon as I did this, I lost the ability for the computers to talk with one another over the wireless connection (can't even ping their IP address). Networking is not working, but when I connect with an ethernet cable, I can at least ping the IP address. I can also see the "media devices" for the other Windows 7 computer. The Windows XP computers have the link for the network place, but when I click is say the location is not accessible, and I might not have permission to use the network resource - contact administrator (me).

Is there something that Family Safety does either on the PC or on the Wireless Router that is causing this? Do I just need to remove it and find another parental blocking solution?

Please Help!!

I need to change my daughter's date of birth on her account, but it's disabled.  I tried going through Family Safety, but I don't see the option there either.

How can I achieve this?

The date is causing problems with using the droid Outlook.com application for her phone, so she can't see our shared Outlook.com calendar.

Thanks.
