I purchased two Dell laptops for my twin boys. I set both of them up on Family Safety at the same time. However, activity is only being recorded on ONE laptop. They are both set up exactly the same. Both accounts have "activity reporting" enabled, however, the Family Safety portal is only reporting one of them. I've tried the trouble shooting in previous posts (checking for corrupted files, etc), but nothing is helping. I'm at a complete loss b/c both accounts are set up exactly the same on both computers. I'm getting very frustrated b/c I want to monitor BOTH laptops. Please assist--I'm at my wit's end.

Update: I just checked my other son's laptop (whose activity is being recorded in Family Safety) and it shows activity 8/19, 8/20 and today....but it shows NO activity yesterday, 8/21, and he was online for several hours doing online homework.

Why is Family Safety only recording SOME family members on SOME days? It seems like there are a lot of bugs to this. At this point, how much confidence can we put into this when it's so unreliable?

Cannot access email on our Mac because we can't resolve problems with family safety

I'm getting this error message when trying to get to outlook.com

Your account is not ready
It looks like your parent hasn't finished setting up the Family Safety settings for your account. Click "Go to Family Safety settings" to finish the process and get into your account.

When I click there I get a generic information page that doesn't help.

I saw in the discussion board that other people had the same problem and was fixed somehow. Please let me know how to fix this. Thank you!

Hi,

I cannot install the Netflix app to my kid's account, which is a Family Safety monitored account. How can I do so?

It does not show up in the list of Apps allowed (when I use a Surface). Using my kid's account on the desktop, the Netflix app doesn't even show up searching the Store.

Thanks,

Mariano

Hi..

along with the ongoing and seemingly neverending problems with setting time limits, it seems the latest nail in the Windows Live Family Safety coffin is the inability to change settings when logged into Family Safety.

My daughter sent a few requests to access a couple of sites.  After checking out the sites, I decided to add them to the allow list but everytime I try to do that, I'm faced with the following error message:
Sorry, you can't change your settings at the moment. Please try again later.

I've tried this over a number of hours but there's no change.

Seriously MS...WTF are you doing to this once great piece of software???

It's simply not fit for purpose.
I removed family safety earlier(remove all family member, including admin), then I sign up the family safety again on a PC. Now I can not loggin in and change my setting. It show something like "The page you requested does not exist or has been moved temporarily closed.", where can I ask for help? Thankyou
I've been banging my head against a wall on this for a month or so. I'm running Windows 8 Pro on two computers. Family Safety was somehow disabled on my kids' accounts on either system. When I logged in as them, Family Safety worked. It also worked on a test account. I finally discovered that if you hold the Shift key down after logging it, Family Safety does not start, so filtering, curfew, time limits, etc. does not take affect. Is this a "feature?" Is there a work around, because as of right now, there is no safety in my house.

Hi,

My daughter and son both are receiving the following error message when attempting to log into their email accounts on outlook.com.

Your account is not ready
It looks like your parent hasn't finished setting up the Family Safety settings for your account. Click "Go to Family Safety settings" to finish the process and get into your account.

Earlier this year they used to be able to log in to outlook.com/hotmail.com through the web with no problems. They each have 2 email address and all of them give this error. They each have 1 for outlook.com and 1 for Hotmail.com.

Although they cannot log into to outlook.com through the web, they can receive their emails on their android and ios devices.

The email addresses pre-date my usage of Windows Live Family Safety (we are on Windows 7) so the Hotmail.com addresses were originally setup as child accounts to my Hotmail account.

In Family Safety my Hotmail account is the primary and I have tried setting my kids up as 'kids' and as 'parents' in the 'family' and installing Family Safety on a fresh machine that did not have it until now with no changes in the error message.

Please contact me by private message to received all the email addresses involved.

Thanks,

Todd
I cannot seem to find a way to get Family Safety to recognize Minecraft on my son's account that is protected with Family Safety.  It will not show up in the list, and the browse for file button is missing.  The ability was present in the standard Account Controls of Windows 7, but disappeared when I installed Family Safety.  I have searched and searched for answers, but it appears I've been stumped! :(
