I just want to send this out there while it's fresh in my mind in case it can help anyone else. I'm in OS 10.6.8. Like so many others, I've had nothing but trouble with Outlook 2011, including not being able to sync contacts, calendars, etc, OR syncs that
scaterred the data so wild and crazy as to be useless, forced to restore to pre-sync.
Following various how-tos at more than one Mac or Office forum, still unable to sync. Tried various import/export scenarios--file types just not swappable. Dumped Application Support Sync and Microsoft files as directed, which after Restart did fill in
the totally blank Sync Services pref in Outlook, but setting contacts to sync w Add Book still didn't work. In other threads tried various Sync Services instructions, finally resetting at the Terminal level. All no-go. It's now four hours later...
In desperation I again exported contacts from Outlook, choosing the .txt format (tab-delimited text file). I know Address Book can't read this, so I right-clicked the .txt file to Open with..Excel. When the Excel doc opened I clearly saw a few anomalies,
but mostly it looked more or less correct--Last Names in Last Name column, etc. From inside Excel, I used Save As... and chose as the format type: Windows Comma Separated (.csv), which created a second file as the csv file type I know Address Book can read. Then I imported from Address Book.
And it worked. I will have to do some manual cleanup--deleting some totally blank cards and fixing some cards where data found its way to a wrong field, but it's far better than reentering hundreds of contacts one by one.
Before doing this I backed up my Library>Application Support>Microsoft and SyncServices files and Documents>Microsft User Files, which I'd advise anybody do when troubleshooting anything.
Hope this might help somebody.
Hi,
I have a Mac Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with Outlook 2011.
The computer is also on a domain with Exchange 2010.
Since we last updated the software to 2011, I've moved all "On My Computer" items to the exchange account.
When I try to check those items on Outlook 2011, everything seems to be fine.
When I use OWA to check those items, all emails that were from "On My Computer" have this weird MIME format:
This message is in MIME format. Since your mail reader does not understand this format, some or all of this message may not be legible.
I tried using Outlook 2010 but it's the same as OWA.
It seems like there was a encoding problem while uploading to the exchange server.
Does anyone know what's going on?
Thanks,
Daniel
When I type in the notes section then save and close it, it clears all the format which is incredibly aggravating.
The hacker was able to see my word documents, used the same font and format I use, copy and paste a signature to the letter sent to my broker. The only thing the hacker lacked was my telephone numbers and account numbers. I was told by the police and
Equifax to immediately change my email to a different address. I need to keep all my folders and contacts and want to stay with hotmail or outlook but am told transferring folders cannot be done. Is there a way to do it or a way to change my login ID and
keep the folders intact. Please help as this is a serious problem and all of my contacts are getting the same email that spammed me. Thank You.
I went into my hotmail account today and it looks like it automatically converted to the Outlook format. Why did this happen? Is is the same for everyone? Do I have the option to go back to the old hotmail format?
I'm having trouble figuring out how to edit my contacts under the new format. The only option I have is to add new contact. Please help! Thanks.
