Movie Maker does not convert Dolby Digital .WTV files correctly

I use Windows Media Center to record HD TV. Movie Maker converts the video with no issues, but the stereo downmix does not include the center channel. Therefore the volume is lower on the converted .WMV files., especially when the .WTV file includes the majority of the dialog on the center channel.

Movie Maker 2011 has custom audio settings for various stereo bit rates. 

Do any of the formats down mix DD to stereo correctly?
