I received an email about virus HTK45 and something about need to upgrade or lose my account. Is this a scam?

Recieved a letter in my junk mail that is supposely from Hotmail about my account. However, the email that goes with it

is neon-communations. Says I need to follow link and upgrade my account or lose my account. I think it is a scam, but

want to be sure???

i just recv'd an email that says it is from hotmail cust. care support and it say that a HTK4S virus has been detected in my email folders and i should copy and paste the given link in my browser within the next 24 hrs or my email account will be deleted.  is this true?  and what am i suppose to do?
