I want to restore my Contacts only in Outlook for Mac 2011.  I'd like to do this without restoring a complete identity from the past because I'd lose emails from the intervening period.  I can't figure out how the contacts got lost since some of them are still available.

Thanks for any help!
Hello,

So, I had to rebuild my identity for Outlook - in fact 2 time in less than a week.  After it completed the second time I shut down Outlook and restarted it.  I entered all of the server info as I had done previously and this time it is not working.  What I mean by that is that I can see my Outlook mailbox and associated folders that I have set up.  But it will not load my old message or the old messages in my mailbox.  Also, the data in my folders is not there.  Looking for any suggestions to try before de-installing/re-installing.

Thanks,
Allison
outlook 2011 opens - encounters an error and shuts down - with japanese proofing error
I just went through the process of uninstalling Microsoft office 2011 and reinstalling 2011 and the update of 14.2.3 (I had the identity issue) -

Outlook now opens but then shuts down saying it is encountering an error.  The error has something to do with Japanese Proofing Error.

How do I correct this?

Thanks,
Donna
Crashes on "Setting up Identity". Of course my warranty just expired and Microsoft wants to charge me $50
I rebuilt my identity as outlook wouldn't open.  After the rebuild Outlook opened but then all my folder names were gone and replaced with 'Recovered Folder 1, ...2, 3...etc.  I tried to rebuild again and the folders returned but now I can't save anything to a folder and I'm not able to create any new calendar entries.

I still have the original identity saved as a copy but haven't tried to copy/paste that under the main identity file yet.

this app is making me miss outlook on my PC...

Any help is most welcome!
I have seen in the forum various messages on the updating identity message when you start Outlook. I have seen the reply about deleting files etc. However, today I have this message for 3 hours. It says not to force out of application or shut down.
What do I do now?
I've done the rebuild identity, step-by-step, approximately 12 times.  Sometimes the fix works for over a week, sometimes for less than 24 hours.  Each time the fix takes many hours (usually overnight) to complete.

I did the 12.2.1 update weeks ago, after the 3rd or 4th identity rebuild.  That didn't stop the problem.

Please, someone, help!  My employer wants to re-image the entire computer.

I am on Outlook 2011 for Mac, 14.2.3. A week ago I opened Outlook and everything had disappeared. I followed all the steps to rebuild my identity, make the identity default etc... and Yay, Everything returned to normal, or so I thought. NOW anything I do in outlook (send e--mails, create calendar entries, add contacts) is not there after I reboot. I even started a brand new blank identity, sent a test e-mail, shut down, restarted, and sure enough, the sent email is not in my sent folder, and outlook couldn't even remember my e-mail account info. Any ideas? Really need help.
I have just installed Mountain lion and I now have an issue with outlook which I had to re install to access my excel files that would not open after the upgrade, however outlook is my challenge now. I have a box coming up with select identity coming up and anything I do does not resolve it it just comes up with an error occurred while launching. What should I do to resolve this ?
