I am running Windows Live Mail 2011 using Windows 8.  I have NONE of these problems running Windows Live Mail on my computer that uses Windows 7!!! I think these problems must all be related to Windows 8. And I don't know why Live Mail 2011 came with this new laptop, given that it is several years old and there is a newer version out there.

50% of the time, I get these messages when I sign in to look at my emails:

Checking for messages on Charter.

Your IMAP server has not responded in 60 seconds. Would you like to wait another 60 seconds for the server to respond?

Some errors occurred while processing the list of tasks. Please review the list of error below for more details. But there is NO list of errors below!

I usually then use a different mail program connected to my Charter IP. Then, at a later point, when I go back into Windows Live Mail one of two things happen. Either my emails finally download the way they are supposed to, or just the headers download and when I go into an email, there is no content to it. Sometimes the program indicates I have say 45 emails, but they do not appear in the In box! Then I have to go into Accounts and click Download Emails. Once I had to wait 3 entire days before the emails came in. I usually have no trouble sending emails, although sometimes I cannot even do that. I get a message that says the mail program cannot cannot to the server.

ANY advice anyone can give me would be helpful. I think my frustration is so high at this point that I am going to start using gmail in hopes that I will not have these problems.

I am getting an error message from outlook 2013 Message full IMAP support not fully supported. I have not been able to receive any E-mail in Outlook since this message began appearing.

I am not able to get any new mail. It was suggested I remove my primary E-mail address. I did this. Now I am not able to reinstate it. When I do so I get the following.

Log onto incoming mail server (IMAP): General authentication failed. None of the authentication methods supported by your IMAP server (if any) are supported on this computer.

Send test e-mail message: None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server.
I keep getting a dialog popup box in outlook 2013 that reads "Your IMAP server wants to alert  to the following message: http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.PY?answer=8770. Can you tell me what is going on and how to fix it?
Out of nowhere yesterday evening, Windows Live Mail stopped communicating with my mail server and I had made no changes to the account at all.  It would time out after 60 seconds.  As the mail client on my phone still worked, I knew it wasn't an issue with the server.  I took the following steps:

- Verified settings with hosting company, all were correct
- Removed and re-added the account. It will connect to the server and redownload all messages up until the time that the issue started occurring.
- Accessed webmail and deleted the last couple messages that came in before it stopped working and the message after it stopped working as well.
- Ran virus scan
- Ran a repair on Windows Essentials
- Removed and reinstalled Windows Essentials
- Retest, same issue
- Installed Thunderbird to see if it was my computer or Windows Live Mail.  Thunderbird worked perfectly fine, no issues, no errors.
- Did a COMPLETE removal of Windows Essentials including registry keys, etc etc etc
- Reinstalled Windows Essentials
- Set it back up and experienced the same issue.
- Removed the account
- Readded using SSL/TLS settings.  IT WORKS! The only issue is that I don't have an SSL/TLS certificate so I get an error message whenever I open the program.
- Went back to no SSL/TLS, same issue occurred.

So at this point, it is 100% confirmed after several discussions with my hosting company as well as HP that this is an issue with Windows Live Mail.  For whatever reason, with the correct settings it WILL NOT connect to my IMAP server without SSL/TLS turned on.  Which is a pain because I get an error message any time I close/reopen the program.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Using Office 2013 with Windows 7, and I keep getting an IMAP error stating that "Your IMAP server wants to alert you to the following: Email is too large, http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?answer=8770

This error message keep popping up every second and that was vary annoying.  I am not able to really do anything with this version of OutLook.

I am getting the following error message when trying to get my email account set up on Windows Live Mail - does anyone know if I can resolve this? My laptop is brand new so it doesnt have a huge amount on it, so Id be suprised if there is not enough memory,

Hi Folks,

I have recently upgraded Outlook 2011 from 14.2.2 to 14.3.6 through the online updates available. Since then i have noticed this behavior in my Outlook 2011, that it received email immediately after startup and then never retrieves any email for hours untill Outlook is restarted.

As soon soon as Outlook is started we get the following Status in Status Bar "INBOX : Determining Changes". Immediately New Mails from the IMAP server show up in the INBOX but the Progress Bar just Hangs and doesn't move at all. I have tried keeping the Outlook open for 4 hours after the initial sync and not a single message is retrieved from the IMAP server. This is an internal email server to my company where we receive emails and we have a web portal to it where i can see email arrive instantly but Outlook does not even poll for it at all.

I have tried all combination of advance settings configuration for IMAP server in outlook. Tried enabling IMAP idle too with refresh interval of 1 minute. Enabled Sync with a interval of 5 minutes and Mentioned only to download headers but still no help. Through the web portal and used on Thunderbird it works like a charm and new email are updated in realtime.

Polling for emails from IMAP in real time is very important requirement for me due to the nature of my work. This was working fine on Outlook 14.2.2 (there were delays of 5 to 6 minutes but that is acceptable than not retrieving email at all).

If any body can guide me in order to enable logs on Outlook 2011 then i can try to narrow down the issue.

Any inputs on this would be highly appreciated.

Regards,

Shaik Zubair
