Original Title: "Hi I am using Outlook for Mac 2011 with IMAP settings. When i delete messages from the inbox, i dont see the deleted msg anywhere. Not even in the deleted messages folder. Pl help"
Another issue: i can see flagged messages in my inbox,  in my ''tasks'' folder as well. I deleted tasks today and it deleted the flagged emails from my inbox as well. Now need to recover all the flagged messages.... pl help

I want to setup my live.com email address on Outlook 2011 so that it syncs my read messages and folders with Outlook, but when I try to set it up through an Exchange server or IMAP, it doesn't work.  It forces to POP3, which is not going to work.  Is there a "Hotmail Outlook Connector" for Mac?  Or is that also a PC-only capability like OneNote?  If there are IMAP server settings that I could use with Outlook, please indicate them here.  Thanks!

I'm using IMAP to Google email account. IMAP has been working for months fine - but today not.

I have a busy work day and now NO NEW MAIL since last night. I tried rebooting, changed Gmail password, no luck.

When Outlook comes up,  it says "Last sync 8/8/2 at 6:25pm" (last night) and later shows "All folders are up to date" and "Connected to <Gmail account>."

However the Gmail web-interface shows many new emails since 6pm yesterday. Outlook IMAP is not seeing them.

What steps do I try next? How do I get Outlook to see the new Gmail messages??

My Gmail is forwarded (IMAP) to Windows Live Mail. But THREE copies of each email are listed each time. How do I correct this?
Hi all,

Am trying to rename an IMAP folder in Outlook 2011 (Mac) and it is failing with error "RENAME failed: invalid argument" (error code 1025) and/or "Connection to the server failed was dropped" (with error code -3253). The additional info suggests this is potentially because a folder with that name exists - it doesn't (unless Outlook is making multiple attempts?).

Same operation works perfectly fine in Outlook 2007/2010 on Win7.

NB. The input box reverts to non-editable about 1 second after selecting "Rename"... very strange behaviour?

Any ideas? Thanks!

Best regards,

Chris
Hi I am trying to set up my Gmail account in Outlook 2011 for Mac. "All Mail" folder is set to SHOW in Gmail but is not displayed in Outlook. All other IMAP folders are displayed in Outlook.  Very frustrating as the I need the "All Mail" when searching for e-mail.
Appreciate any ideas or help. Thanks!

I received the Windows Live Mail Error 0x800CCC0F following a restart after my Win7 machine shut down unexpectedly. I have numerous email accounts on Windows Live Mail which I monitor, including Gmail IMAP, Hotmail and POP. All accounts were affected. After I had logged in to Windows Live Messenger, the Hotmail account in Windows Live Mail was again working. All the other accounts gave this error (with different text according to each account):-

Unable to send or receive messages for the xxxxx Gmail account. Header download for the xxxxxxx folder did not complete.

Server Response: Your IMAP command could not be sent to the server, due to non-network errors. This could, for example, indicate a lack of memory on your system.
Server: 'imap.gmail.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
Protocol: IMAP
Port: 993
Secure(SSL): Yes

I read through all the forums for Error 0x800CCC0F and did not find a definitive answer, but I seem to have managed to solve the problem anyway. I did a repair of Windows Live Essentials through Programs and Features in control Panel, but the same issue remained. I then went through the Account Property settings of one of the affected accounts to check the information for servers and ports and authentication method etc. I noticed under the Servers tab for Incoming Mail Server, that the Password field was blank, even though the Remember password box was checked and the Username was intact. After inserting my password in the blank field and saving, the send and receive for that account worked correctly and the problem was solved. The Password field in each of the other accounts was also blank and the Remember password box was checked in each case. After going through each of the accounts and inserting the password, everything worked again.

It would appear that the unexpected shutdown had caused a corruption of the password store, which resulted in all the blank password fields. It is unfortunate that the error message was misleading and had indicated it was due to non-network errors or lack of memory. It seems as though the client was sending a blank password along with the username during authentication which had caused the error. One would have thought that sending a blank password would have resulted in a more specific authentication error.

I seem to recall with earlier clients, a blank password would result in a username and password input popup. In my opinion, in case the password field is blank, the Remember password box should be automatically cleared which would then invoke the password input popup.

for incoming mail server, what is the host name? -- Is the user name the same as my user name for outlook.com? -- If not, what is it?

for outgoing mail server, what is the host name?
