Using window 7 windows live mail and bought a new windows 8 machine. I used the export function in live mail on the windows 7 machine to export the email messages to a blank file on that machine. Then copied that file over the network to the windows 8
machine. I then used the import messages function in the live mail program and all appeared to work but the messages are nowhere to be found in the mail program. What am I missing?

Hi There:
I am now using Windows 8. I prefer to use the desktop with Windows Live Mail Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3505.0912).
However when I attempt to import old emails, this version seems to differentiate between "_EML File" and "Windows Live Mail Email Messages," not allowing me to import any of the first (older?) type.
I really need my older messages. How can I import these into this version of Live Mail?

I have my saved DBX files (including the inbox) from Outlook Express on my old Win XP machine. Now trying to import them into Win 7 Live Mail. I click Import Messages, select OE6 as the type, and point to the folder where the DBX files are. But when I
click Next, it says "no messages can be found in this folder."
How do I get Win 7 Live Mail to recognize the DBX files?
