The message appears in the inbox folder when Live mail is opened butI  get message saying 'message cannot be found'.  If I try and delete this message then Windows Live mail hangs and is greyed out. The message does not appear in the sub-folder ...Appdata /Microsoft/Windows Live Mail/.../inbox but is listed under inbox whenever I open Windows live mail. How can I get rid of it?

I have lost numerous email from my inbox folder in Windows Live Mail. This has happened numerous times and I need to get it stopped! So far I have not noticed losing email in other folders...but I am not totally sure if this has happened or not.

The lost email ARE NOT in the deleted folder or in any other folder that I have looked at.

Can someone help me?

Thank you

I accidently deleted the default Archive folder you get when you open an Outlook.com account. On the Folders menu this appears under the Inbox folder.

I know you can simply create a new Archive folder (or any folder and calll it what you want) but in doing so you can't get it to appear beneath the Inbox folder again without it becoming a subfolder of the Inbox. It instead can only appear at the bottom of your folder list.

Is there a way to make a new Archive folder appear under the Inbox folder (like it is when you start a fresh account) without it becomming a subfolder? Or, is there a way to reset all default settings and so restore the initial setup?

Thanks

Hi,

I have recently created a folder to put emails from a friend of mine (who sends me a lot of funny images and links etc). I did this as he sends me a lot of messages and it makes sorting my inbox more difficult..

I often browse with multiple tabs open. When I receive a new message or messages the outlook tab will display the amount of new messages so I do not have to constantly check to see if I have received anything new. However I do not receive this notification for messages sent to this folder, even though I have put it under/in the inbox folder. I have tried searching the settings as well as the forums but with no luck. Is there a way to receive the tab notification for a custom folder, and if so how do I enable it? Any help would be much appreciated.
We have an option to set up an IMAP inbox for receiving voice messages with our email client, but with Outlook 2011, there's a constant barrage of errors because the following folders do not exist.

//Junk E-Mail/
//Deleted Items/
//Sent Items/
//Drafts/

There is only an Inbox folder on the server as it should be.  How can I get Outlook 2011 to stop showing constant errors when it tries to check the status of the folders above? In the IMAP folders under tools, there is no option to unsubscribe these "default" folders. Other email clients (Outlook 2010, 2013) do not exhibit this problem.  Is there a way to configure Outlook 2011 so that it only checks the Inbox?
  • To send email messages from this alias, click on your address (above the To line in the message)and select your alias from the list.
  • If you set up a separate inbox folder for your alias, messages sent to the alias will go there. Otherwise, messages sent to your alias will go to your regular inbox.
  • You can sign in to Outlook.com with your alias. All your aliases (including your primary alias) use the same password.

     where is the above the "to line in the message?"

    how do i set up a separate inbox folder for my alias?

  • After removing Gmail IMAP account from Outlook 2011 sometime in May, I noticed several "ghost" INBOX folder under Unified Inbox (see the picture below). Under the Unified Drafts I also have three Drafts folders, the Unified Sent Items, Unified Deleted Items and Unified Junk E-mail only have a single extra folder.

    All the folders show the same last synced time (see below).

    I've tried removing the Gmail mailbox and adding it again, but the folders don't disappear. If I disable Unified view (Tools -> General -> Group similar folders...), there's no account that has the INBOX folders, but changing back to Unified Inbox makes the folder re-appear. Is there any way to remove the "ghost" folders or do I just have to recreate my Outlook profile?

    Outlook states that a separate inbox folder can be setup so that any emails sent to my outlook alias will be sent there rather than my gmail inbox. How do I go about accomplishing this?
