Have just downloaded and installed Live Mail on my daughter's computer [running W8 - 64 bit], but it will not open, Restarted computer but still nothing happens, timer spins for about 10 seconds, then disappears, and the desktop remains. How do I open this to create an account?

<Moved from Windows Mail App Forum>

Hi everyone,

hope someone can answer this for me. I have had a Hotmail account for over 8 years now. I have my mail in there going back that long. I also use the Windows Live Mail client (on my PC) to download my email from several accounts, including my Hotmail account. I want to delete all the mail from my Hotmail account online (because it's continually hacked) but leave the mail in my Live Mail client on my PC. However, when I delete a message from my Hotmail account online, it also goes from my Live Mail client on my PC. I just want to be able to receive them on my PC, then delete them from my online account.

Hope this is clear guys.

Many thanks in advance,

Dave.
I'm using Windows Live Mail (from Windows Live Essentials) in Windows 7 x64, this month I found I cannot type Chinese in the mail body. I can type Chinese in the contact or search box, etc., but I just failed when I'm editing the body of mail.
I regularly correspond with someone who can only send and receive plain text, so I set Live Mail default to send plain text Quoted Printable (which prevents auto text wrapping) so that he can paste selections into other documents.

He sends very long replies, also as unwrapped plain text, but Windows Live Mail wraps the received mail at 76 characters in the reading pane and window.  This is irritating enough on a 30" monitor with 2500 horizontal pixels to play with, but devastatingly inconvenient when trying to paste into other documents, because text copied from the reading window retains the line breaks that Windows Live Mail officiously puts there.

How do I disable this anachronistic 'feature'?

When click to open windows live mail it comes up saying a problem occurred while trying to open this message, i tried esentutl.exe -d "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Mail.MSMessageStore" and now I can't even open live mail it says another program is using the data.

I don't want to loos all my emails

Window's Live Mail.  I am not receiving attachments into live mail.  I can find them in Yahoo Mail so I'm getting them, they just don't come into my computer.  I have followed the live mail Help instructions to clear the box "do not allow att" etc under Junk Mail Security tab, but that doesn't seem to make any difference.  Any suggestions?

I recently bought a Windows smart phone (Nokia 520) which uploaded all contacts from my hotmail account. I deleted most of these as I did not want them on my phone. Alas they were also deleted from my hotmail account, both in Outlook on line and in Live Mail on my computer. I have restored them in Outlook but cannot get them restored in Live Mail.

How do I restore (synch) the contacts from Outlook to Live Mail.
How do I stop all the contacts being synched to my Windows phone.

Thank you

live mail (Build 16.4.3508.0205) robs the focus I require. I want to use web access online to contact and use Email service at Verizon.net directly using my ISP client account.  I have NO DESIRE to use a Hotmail.com account as some intermediary to reach my Verizon Email services. Downloading and Installing Live Mail to version  (Build  16.4.3505.0912) which works in the manner I need is my goal. Hopefully someone has a solution to the annoyance created by the upgrade to live mail's build 16.4.3508.0205.  Must I resort to use of Linux or Ubuntu to search out this earlier version? Bing and Google search were no help.  Thanks Forum members. RayB

[Moved from feedback]

I am working online - but Live Mail is asking me if I 'want to go online?'.  This happened before but righted itself, and nothing has been changed.
Again it keeps asking me if I want to go online and I click yes, but nothing changes, also not when I click the GO ONLINE button.  At the botton it shows that I am indeed online.  I cannot receive or send emails. I use the Chrome browser.  Thank you
