I have a XP computer that I ran Outlook Express on for a number of years then upgraded to Window Live and Windows Live Mail, all without any problems. I recently bought a new computer and wanted to extract the WLM folders from the XP machine and transplant them on the new Windows 7 machine or at least import them to the new machine.
I can only find the old Outlook Express folders that contain two year only mail. When I look in WLM, tools, option, advanced, maintenance, store Folder, on the XP machine, it gives me a location. When I go to that location it does not exist. How can the program work? Better still where are the folders?
In folder view all the necessary boxes are unchecked giving me full view access to files and folders.
I need to resolve this.

whenever i enter my ID and password to sign in into hotmail, i get into a page where it says "You haven't signed in from this location recently."  in which there are 3 options. I tried all options and it all takes me back to this same page. I can't access my emails, i need a quick solution because i got urgent emails that i can't miss. what is the solution??

I use Outlook for Mac 2011 on a MacBook Pro. The backup method has been to use CrashPlan, a highly regarded commercial service that automatically backs up all files to a local server or to CrashPlan's own storage via Internet. Recently the laptop was lost. I initiated a restore of all laptop files to a new laptop, and all files restored successfully -- except for Outlook's.

Here's what happened during recovery. I installed Outlook on the new laptop, deleted the files in /Users/username/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/ that were set up by default, and copied the restored contents from the restore location to that location. I then started Outlook, and received the message that the database needed to be rebuilt. After the rebuild, Outlook started but large amounts of email was missing. Some very recent email was present, but the bulk was not present. There seems to have been data corruption as well; some email dates were set to year 2018, and there were many recovered folders. So, having lost years of email, I now ask how I should backup Outlook for Mac in the future.

I ask because on PCs, the Outlook 2010 mail file (a .pst file) will not back up automatically if Outlook is running, as the file is locked against another open attempt. One has to shut off Outlook 2010 to get a backup. But I read that, on a Mac, Time Machine will back up all files, and I see no mention of shutting off Outlook.

Assuming that CrashPlan backs up all files it can, what do you think went wrong?

Am I correct in assuming that Outlook for Mac cannot be reliably backed up by automatic means? In that case, my strategy is to use File | Export and save the .olm file manually to a location that CrashPlan backs up every time it is saved.

Thanks for help.

My user is having an issue with his timezone on his Mac office 2011.  Outlook thinks his computer is currently on Central Time which is not.  The OSX correct timezone is Eastern Timzone.  Currently Outlook calendar does not list Eastern timezone and it only give him CT,MT,PT as the only options.  His Mac is running the latest OSX Lion and disabled location services.  He tried setting to different timezones in Outlook and reboot but no avail.  The Eastern timezone doesn't seem to be an option for him in his Outlook.

I'm just wondering if this is a new bug introduced in the latest SP.

When I log into hotmail, it always goes to the same particular email I recieved on May 16th, rather than the inbox.

I tried moving the location where I stored that particular email but it still open up to show the content of that same email.

Why?  and how can I clear this 'bug'?

BTW.  In my 'Options' I already put a 'tick' on the "Go to Inbox when I sign in" option.

Hi, what is the location of outlook signature files in mac ?
The send/receive function does not download all emails from the server to my mac.  As such I am missing vast numbers of emails.  This is a particular problem when I move location and it will not download email that I have received whilst mobile.  It synchronises in the office and then when I return home it will download mail received after I have arrived but nothing in the intervening period.
I received a e-mail from a*** saying my e-mail has been accessed from different location. She is asking mt to update my info. Does she represent you folks?
17. May 2012 · Comments Off on I just found several ‘contacts’ that I never authorized.. · Categories: Uncategorized · Tags: , , , ,

These malicious contacts all have 'porno' site sounding names, and do not display a URL location I can use for identification... These contacts DO NOT appear on my normal 'contact list' and thus cannot be edited or deleted... The names are different, but all appear in all capitol letters and in BOLD FACE type. I can only see these malicious names from the drop down box that appears when I am either forwarding an email or sending an original email.

Because these contact names are obviously hidden, I am afraid they are either hijacking my computer, or even watching me through my camera on my laptop?? Please!!! Where might I find these hidden names so I can delete them?? What files should I be looking for where they may be hiding??

Thank You,

My machine fails to boot up but I can still manage to copy files from it. I wish to know the location of those mails hence I can copy them for importing into new machines using Live Mail. Thanks in advance!
