Where is the troubleshooting log saved in the directory for Windows Live Mail?

Hello. If there is another forum where this topic belongs, please advise in which it should be. I use 64-bit Win7.  In Windows Live Mail program, Options>Advanced>Maintenance, there is a section for choosing to create a log for troubleshooting. Where does the log get put, and what size will it reach? I am actually interested in the log for News, not Mail, but I expect that they are both saved in the same place.Thanks.

EMAIL FROM HOTMAIL. SPOOF?

I KEEP GETTING AN EMAIL WHICH COULD BE FROM HOTMAIL SAYING TO CLICK ON A LINK TO VERIFY MY LOG IN DETAILS. HOW DO I KNOW IT IS FROM HOTMAIL AND NOT A SPOOF TRYING TO GET MY LOG IN DETAILS?
IF I CLICK ON IT, IT ASKS ME FOR MY EMAIL AND PASSWORD . THIS COULD BE SOMEONE TRYING TO GET MY LOG IN DETAILS AND ACCESS TO MY PERSONAL EMAILS. OR IT COULD BE HOTMAIL NEEDING THIS FOR SOME REASON. 
ANY IDEAS ANYONE?

Is this from HMT?
