Hi,
I have 3 accounts configured to use IMAP with SSL. I also have a bunch of accounts configured to use POP.
When my Mac wakes up in the morning or after lunch, I almost always get the Logon failure for all three of the IMAP accounts. Three alerts in a row say this:
The server for account <name> returned the error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?"
I click "No" on the three 'Logon failure' alerts (because my password is already correct). All my POP mail is read, and I usually have to force my IMAP accounts to synchronize. This is inconvenient, but it seems to work.
I have confirmed my IMAP/SSL server and ports are correct with my ISP.
For the incoming server, I have 'Use SSL' checked with default port 993. 'Always use secure password' is not checked.
For the outgoing server, I have 'Use SSL' checked with non-default port 465.
Does anyone know how I can avoid this, or what the problem might be? I suspect that Outlook is trying to connect before my network connection is active (claiming that it's an authentication problem) because this only happens immediately after my Mac wakes up
from sleeping.
I'm using Microsoft Outlook 14.3.8 (Mac 2011) on Mac OS X 10.9.
Thanks,
Chuck

I continually get an error message from Outlook:
The server for xxxxx returned the error 'Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.' Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?
This happens generally when i leave the machine and the screensaver starts, or when I open Outlook for the first time each day.
If I select 'Yes', the machine refuses my passwords, if I select 'No' the machine starts fetching emails again as if nothing has happened.
Clearly there isn't a problem with the names, passwords or security settings. This is another issue
I have set up the accounts in every possible way according to the various instructions and other information from other people's problems.
My Exchange account is not affected.
This is beginning to make me mad. Every time I leave the machine for more than a few minutes I have to clear the error messages on three email accounts.

I recently started getting "mail could not be received at this time" error. The rest of the message reads: "The server for account xxxx returned the error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. Your username/password or security settings may
be incorrect. Would you like to retry entering your password?
All of my credentials are correct and when I enter the information it will connect for a few seconds but then ask me to enter credentials over and over. If I choose "no" it disconnects my session.
I've tried deleting the account and rebuilding, restarting my computer, and deleting my keychain. Nothing seems to work.
Thanks for any help!
