Hi all

I can receive emails - but not send them.  However with any other client (e.g. Mac Mail, Thunderbird etc) I can send and receive.

I have tried changing outgoing email ports to 587, 80, 20 to no avail.

Quite disappointed with this issue - and would like to use outlook - if it could only work.

At the moment my outgoing email is smtpout.asia.securerserver.net (same as my incoming).  It used to work then just stopped about a week ago.  The Microsoft help desk said to verify  and change my outlook 365 mail password (not sure why they said this - but still didn't fix the problem. I replied on the ticket help desk but they have ignored it.

Th error message is usually "An operation on the server timed out. The server may be down, overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic." but sometimes (and more recently) "An unknown error has occurred in Outlook."

Why would the other mail platforms work - but not this outlook?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated as microsoft have not answer my response to their tickets (ticket #

Cheers

Hi

Recently we had to renew an expired SSL certificate on our Exchange 2010 SP 1 RU 5, once we did this all of our Mac Outlook clients are coming up with the error " The server for account Account_Name returned the error "Logon failure: Unknown user name or bad password. Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password"' in Outlook for Mac 2011.

We have tried to renew the certificate but it is still not working. The certificate has been renewed on the Exchange server, and Windows PC’s with Outlook are connected fine, however the Mac clients with Outlook for Mac receive the error message.

We are able to access mail via OWA and Mac Mail without any issues on the Macs.

Other posts have suggested recreating the ‘EWS’ virtual directory on Exchange, however we are reluctant to do this as the Macs can authenticate successfully when browsing to the URL http://ExchangeCASServer/EWS/Exchange.asmx.

We have not yet changed the SMTP port as this has never affected anyone until now, also we have tested the Outlook client for Mac that has didn't have the previous certificate on it and it logs in without the error message.

Many thanks.

Hi there!

Just bought a new macbook pro, but sending emails with mac mail doesn't make me very happy.

I want to send a minimum of 1.000 emails a day, just like I used to do with outlook on my windows machine. Without any problem I might add.

I'm considering to buy outlook for mac, but:

- is it the same program as it is in windows?

- can I use my contacts from outlook and NOT from contacts on my mac? (contacts on macbook can't contain that many email addresses).

Maybe, if outlook for mac is not the same as it is for windows, what kind of email program can you recommend?

Regards,

Ronald

I see the dialog box for rules. It starts out with "When a new message arrives..." and then gives the conditions and what it will do.

I want to make a rule that does something to all my EXISTING mail. (If it has a certain subject put it into a certain folder, etc.)

I believe that Mac Mail will do this. When I make a rule in Mac Mail it asks me if I want to apply the rule right now, to existing mail.

Can Outlook for Mac rules do anything except actions on new mail that arrives?

Thanks, JP

I synced my hotmail to my mac mail service and it had been working fine. But the mail stopped working few weeks ago, i could not get any new emails from both the mac mail app and the online hotmail. (I did try sending emails from other account to my hotmail but found out it wouldn't load any new mails.)

Hotmail has moved all my synced emails to a POP folder just in case it was a accident and told me that i could change my settings by clicking the link button, but every time i click on that button, it says 'there seems to be a problem with outlook right now' and ask me to either return to outlook or report it.

I've just deactivated the Mac mail app service (deleting my account) and the online outlook email started to load new emails now.

Is there any other way i can change my settings or get my mac mail app working again?

I am trying to import mails in mac mail from outlook 2011. Is there any thing wrong with the import function of my mac mail, outlook 2011 is not available in options. However I dont want to get into that much technicalities, just need a simple solution that will transfer all my emails from outlook 2011 to mac mail. Awaiting responses.
Hi,

I've set up mac mail (v7.0) with my @hotmail.com account using imap following the steps described in this thread

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/forum/mail-email/how-to-set-up-mac-mail-to-sync-your-outlookcom/afdfe981-20c7-4d4a-b6b1-9329b27f018a?tab=question&status=AllReplies

But after a few weeks only 72 messages are showing in my inbox (whereas there are thousands there on the web) one message is from a few weeks ago, about 30 messages from last month and the rest from 2011.

The sent, junk and trash folders appear to be up to date, so it is only the inbox that is causing problems.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this would be appreciated

Thanks

Matt
I have the same problem as many other users, when configuring my hotmail account on Mac Mail, all folders are correctly synced but the Inbox.

Hi.

I wanted to report issues with syncing Mac Mail and Mac Outlook 2010 with outlook.com mail account.

At first the connection with Mac Outlook 2010 was strong and stable but after few weeks I got the info that Outlook 2010 is not connected to outlook.com, the situation repeated yesterday and it is disconnected by today.

With Mac Mail I couldn't establish any proper connection even using all the advices I found in Google.

Hello!

I have a MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion OS, with a Mac Mail 6.6 (1510) client.  I have 7 email accounts set up on it, with 2 Gmail IMAPs, 4 POP3 accounts from various providers, and one @hotmail.com account, which was until a few days ago set up for POP3 (leave email on Server).

I was thrilled to hear that Outlook.com has finally got IMAP available for email clients like Mac Mail, so I immediately deleted the Hotmail POP account in Mail (through System Preferences -> Mail, Contacts & Calendars) and then set up my Mail app to access Hotmail via IMAP as per your instructions elsewhere.  That's when the problems began..

My Hotmail Inbox has 3-4 sub-folders in it.  It started synchronizing all my folders, and got all the folders into Mail, except the Inbox.  (The sub-folders showed under the Mailbox name as click-to-expand arrows, and had mail in them, only to disappear on their own in 10 minutes)

So I thought I did something wrong, and deleted this account as well, restarted the Mac and again set up the account - it downloaded more than 2500 messages (including sent, deleted, etc.), but didn't display them in the Mailbox.  This time, the Mailbox Inbox had no sub-folders, but the sub-folders appeared as individual folders along with Junk, Deleted, Sent, etc below.  However, when I restarted the Mail app - SUCCESS!  It showed all the folders, including the Inbox.  It then worked fine for 3-4 days whilst the Mac was on standby and Mail was not closed.

Sending as well as receiving was working well, except I had the well-documented problem of mails deleted from Mac Mail app inbox not deleting from the Outlook.com server.  (Any updates on this front?)

But then, when I restarted the Mac today and launched the Mail app, again the Hotmail Mailbox is showing as empty. No amount or restarting the Mail app is bringing the mails back to show in the Mailbox.

Should I go back to POP?  Am I doing something wrong?  All the other accounts setup in the Mail app are working perfectly.
