Question about Outlook Express

Hi guys I signed up for a windows messenger account and downloaed windows essentials after installing widows essentials windows live mail refused to open and i got the following messages wlidcli.dll is missing from your computer, then when i closed that window i got another message msmail.dll could not be loaded. I did a system restore and was able to use windows live again no problems. So i downloaded just the instant messenger part of windows essentials and it seemed to install ok. I can sign in but the instant messenger window does not appear when i click on its icon. does any body know whats going on or what i am doing wrong?
