Unrequested SMS from Microsoft for password reset

29. October 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: microsoft, Microsoft account password reset code, phone number
So, this morning at approx 4:30(eastern time) i received a series of unrequested SMS from different sender(phone number) saying this;

"Microsoft account password reset code: *******" (change the stars by 7 digit number code)

As i have never requested a password change i am worried about the safety of my account (i use it mainly for my XBOX)

I am affraid to login into my account, because i know that is probably someone who try to mess with my microsoft account...

So what i am supposed to do/ what its the best way to avoid that kind of situation?

P.S. you shoud add a "Microsoft Account" in the category dropmenu below

i keep getting spammed with texts about Microsoft account security codes.

Hi

I have received multiple texts with "Microsoft account security code: xxxxxxx and one with Microsoft account password reset code: xxxxxxx

They had all seven characters as an input.

I am using microsoft hotmail or outlook and MSN. I also have a MCP account as I hold some certifications from Microsoft.

However the number that these texts were received from has NEVER been associated with any microsoft product. I have this number for several months now. I do have associated this number with gmail though don't know if that has any bearing on this subject.

Could someone tell me what this is about??

I did a test and switched the phone number i had associated with my hotmail account with the one i have now (the one i receive the texts) and the security code is 4 characters long not seven.

Is Microsoft using the same SMSC with google?

Emails keep disappearing

Hi there,

So I've had my hotmail account for a few months now, and every couple of weeks all of my emails are deleting. I recently received 2 texts from an unknown numbers saying:  "Microsoft account password reset code: 9425117" and  "Microsoft account password reset code: 5057198". I didn't request this at all, and I'm wondering if there is an issue with my account.

Not enjoying the emails constantly deleting without my control - any help would be great :)

Thanks a lot!

Sam.

Someone keeps sending their microsoft account reset code to me

02. August 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: Microsoft account password reset code, microsoft account reset code, text message
I have been receiving text messages all day that say "Microsoft account password reset code: xxxxx". Another text message said "*** Email address is removed for privacy *** was added to *** Email address is removed for privacy *** Visit https://accountlive.com/confirm and enter code "xxxxx"'.

However, those are NOT my emails. Why is this happening? And isn't this a breach of privacy considering that I could just type in this persons email and security code, allowing me to gain full access to their emails?
