Hi. Two years ago, my college created an e-mail account for me using the older version of the Outlook Web App. Last summer, my college upgraded to the newer version of Office 365. I'm still enrolled at this college, and I can still log into this account without any problem.
However, I can no longer use this e-mail address to log in to other services that require a Microsoft account, such as Skype or SkyDrive. When I try to log in with the same password and user name I've always used, I receive an error message stating that the password is wrong. I never changed the original password, and this Microsoft account still exists.
I'd like to be able to use this .EDU account to log in to Microsoft services. Is there any way to recover the password, or do I need to create another new account? Thanks for your help.
I've had a live/passport account for a long time, which I opened under a non-Hotmail email address, let's call it *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. I never used Hotmail, but did use passport, and later Skydrive and Skype. Now that I have a Win8 machine, I'm using that Microsoft account more, and putting more files on Skydrive.
I signed up for outlook.com when it first appeared, just to see what it was about. I didn't really use it, but now would like to try it out a little more extensively. However, here's my problem. It seems that there is a Hotmail email address that was created for me when I signed up for outlook.com. It is of the form: *** Email address is removed for privacy *** (not the real address, but similar). I wouldn't mind using outlook.com to send and receive email for *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, except that when I send email, it gets flagged as from *** Email address is removed for privacy *** on behalf of *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. I could accept that if *** Email address is removed for privacy *** didn't look so awful; if maybe it looked more like *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
So my question is this: is there a way get a new Hotmail/live/outlook.com email address that doesn't look so awful, and then tie it to my *** Email address is removed for privacy *** Microsoft account? Aliases don't help, because I'm trying to send mail as *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. Do I just sign up for a completely new Microsoft account, and then migrate my Skydrive and Skype accounts? I'd rather not have to do that if possible, but would like to know.
TIA

How can you unblock your account?
The fastest way to unblock your Outlook.com account is to verify your account.

Today, I thought that I would try deleting the folders and creating them on the website in my browser. This worked, so I uploaded the two Word documents I wanted them to contain (having copied them to a different folder on my local machine). In the browser, I now have the folders and the documents, which I can open and update in Word. However, neither the folders nor the files show in the SkyDrive App or in Windows Explorer. They have not been synced to my local machine at all and there is no sign in the app of a failure at syncing (indeed, there is no progress "bar"/dots showing at all, or any error messages).
I am rapidly getting to the end of my tether with this, I've been using SkyDrive for over a year and find it essential. It has not been working now for two weeks, since upgrading to Windows 8.1. I want to go back to Windows 8, but there is no way of doing so (cleverly, Windows 8.1 wipes all restore earlier restore points when it installs. Well thought out, Microsoft).
I am seriously cross with this whole issue. Whatever was wrong with Windows 7 (the OS that actually drew me away from Linux!)?
