I recently had to uninstall Mcafee virus definitions, system mechanic and dll-fixer because they all became non-functional. I installed Microsoft Essentials and use the virus definitions and Win firewall now. I choose to additionally activate Win Live Mail instead of my Win Mail.

Win Live Mail however hangs when I try to compose a mail message. Not much good as an e-mail program!! The hang is so bad that only a computer reboot escapes from the program.

I don't want to uninstall/reinstall Microsoft Essentials as I am using the virus definitions/firewall. This is the suggestion in some forums!

Can anyone suggest another fix?

I have reverted to Win Mail but would like the additional opportunities of Win Live Mail - if only I could get it to work (send email).

Any help appreciated!

I am running Vista 32 bit. Would upgrading to win 7 help?

I upgraded Microsoft Essentials on my desktop over the weekend and now Movie Maker says it can't open. (I was using the previous version of Movie Maker on Friday.) I believe my machine meets the system requirements and think that the problem is with my graphics card. When I visit the Intel site I get sent to HP, and HP says I already have the latest driver installed.

I'd appreciate your help in getting Movie Maker to function again.

Thanks,

KrDr

Last week I started getting a flashing message saying my calendar was being updated.  The calendar would no longer sync with my iphone or ipad.
A Geek Squad agent was able to fix this on Thursday but the problem recurred on Saturday.  Since then they have spend about 8 hours without getting the flashing update removed.  Microsoft Essentials has probably been repaired 10 times and rebooted.  It has been completely removed and reinstalled multiple times all too no avail.
I have read all the previous questions and answers including signing out; using a junk mail sign in and then closing reopening, etc.  To no avail.  My Geek agent concluded that it was a corrupt profile on the MS Server but MS says they don't provide individual support for Essentials and suggested I buy Outlook.
Can anyone help?

I am NOT a techie -- obvious:

Over a couple years of using Photo Gallery, part of Microsoft Essentials> At the far left, there was a column that listed all my Picture files - just the same as what I see when I  simply open My Pictures. Photo Gallery opened this way and stayed this way.

It disappeared. That whole column. I don't know how to get it back and how to ENSURE it won't disappear again when I do.

PLEASE SOMEONE - help!!!

I find it very hard to navigate & use Ph Gallery without this.

Thanks you.

Hi - I have recently been "spoofed" - I received an e mail not sent by me but coming from my e mail address. I changed my password yesterday and have had another, same "spoof" e mail sent to me?? Cleaned computer with Microsoft essentials as earlier instructed. How do I stop this happening again?? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Ok, Microsoft have now got Windows 8 Release Preview, and Office 2013 Preview out now.  Is there any sightings of a Windows Essentials 2013 coming out or what??
