This is quite clearly a topic that has been discussed endlessly. I find it ridiculous that Microsoft support can't arrange for clients to gain access to accounts that their own company designed. Be that as it may, I'm getting the same message as everyone else about being signed in to Office365 (I don't even have an Office365 account, nor does my organisation).
The account in question is a university account and it is extremely important that I get access to it as soon as possible. I have tried all of the fixes recommended, from clearing caches, using incognito mode, installing a new browser and everything inbetween. Needless to say, I've had no luck with any of them. I have also tried linking my Outlook account to my Gmail but obviously a confirmation email is sent to the Outlook account so that doesn't work.
As I have said in the subject line, my university account does not end in .edu - instead it ends in .ac.za
Microsoft support: this is an urgent matter as it will affect my studies and assignment submission so autogenerated 'we're looking into the issue' messages are of no use to anyone. Please assist me in fixing the account so I can move to the relative safety of a Gmail account.
Kind regards,
Jay
My name is alex norton hotmail address : *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
I recently moved to the UK from Australia and was using my hotmail as usual and then all of a sudden it blocked me asking for me to answer my security questions or send an unlock code to an email. The problem is that I no longer have access to the alternative email and also I opened the account in 1999 and have no idea of the answer to the security question. I filled out the recovery form several times with all the info form my previous email which i could still see on my phone and it kept denying it then i did it again earlier after waiting a painful 48 hours after calling support. Getting on live chat several times. Then I get an email asking for me to just open a new account. I have had this account since 1999 and i have hundreds of accounts lined to this hotmail. I have currently 50 resumes with potential employers here in the UK that I am relying on this account for their response.I need help asap. email *** Email address is removed for privacy *** asap!
For future searchers hopefully this will be easily found...
The issue (which I assume is very common): Is there any way to be logged in to one account at say @Outlook.com and log in to a different microsoft account like say @hotmail.com simultaneously on the same computer?
I ran into this problem when I tried out Google's Gmail and they had a work around for just this very issue. Surely Microsoft has figured this one out and is willing to assume the grave risk of allowing such usage for the sake of increased productivity worldwide. After dealing with Gmail's mess of an email system I have resorted back to using good ol' Microsoft for this particular account. I have been a long time hotmail account daily user as my primary personal email for probably 12+ years now and I enjoy it's organization. But when I went to the trouble of building a new outlook.com account for my other business I went to send a test email from my hotmail account and it automatically logged me out, even though it was on a different browser window. Then the obligatory google search for a discussion and fix on the matter ensued, and now 45 minutes later I'm going through the trouble of registering with the "community" and writing this post in hopes that I'll find the easy solution.
Please excuse the cynicism and sarcasm.
Thanks for any insight.

Outlook account not properly receiving or sending. All settings checked for accuracy and nothing has changed. Called Microsoft support and was told it was an ISP problem. Called ISP technical support (AT&T) and told everything working properly and it was an Microsoft Outlook problem. Incoming e-mail senders receive notification "account not in service". Outgoing e-mails are not sending although message states outgoing mail is being sent. Pop-up window to verify account name and password is frequent but not accepted. Passwords have not changed but are not accepted.
E-mails coming through web based account (att.yahoo.com) are not appearing in Outlook although Outlook is designated as "default".
Any help with this two week old problem will be graciously appreciated.
On Thursday 25th July while trying to update the apps on my Windows Phone 8, I got the error message stating that there was an issue with Account Services and to try again later.
When I logged on to my Windows 8 computer the next day, I was presented with a message stating that there had been suspicious activity with my account and gave me the option to fix it. I clicked on the link and was taken to a page that stated that my account "had been temporarily blocked which may be because it had sent a lot of spam email or had violated the terms of use."
Previous to that point, I had sent about 3 emails in 2 weeks and only signed in to the service using my Windows Phone 8, Windows 8 computer and my Xbox LIVE account. So I have neither sent any spam email OR violated any terms of use.
Over the past 2 weeks I have tried to explain this to Microsoft Support only to be told essentially the same thing, and when I try to give as much information as possible (which I could not do in the form I had to fill in), my reply has been ignored.
For the past week, I have been in contact with Xbox Support as I would like to change the sign in details for my Gamertag to another account given I am having no luck in getting help from Microsoft Support in recovering my account and while I can still play online (and have recently renewed my Xbox LIVE GOLD), I fail to see how I can when I may possibly lose everything I have gained over the past 5 years. However, they have helped me as much as they can. They need Microsoft Support to reinstate the account in order for my details to be changed (which they can't do themselves).
Since making the account I have not had any issues with it or Microsoft until now. I now have a Windows 8 computer where half of its services are unavailable as well as a Windows 8 Phone in the same position. I also have a Surface which has now become obsolete as I can't access the services either and an Xbox LIVE account that I might lose everything connected with. Would it be possible to have this sorted out please?
