Lost password for old Microsoft Account created through college

Hi. Two years ago, my college created an e-mail account for me using the older version of the Outlook Web App. Last summer, my college upgraded to the newer version of Office 365. I'm still enrolled at this college, and I can still log into this account without any problem.

However, I can no longer use this e-mail address to log in to other services that require a Microsoft account, such as Skype or SkyDrive. When I try to log in with the same password and user name I've always used, I receive an error message stating that the password is wrong. I never changed the original password, and this Microsoft account still exists.

I'd like to be able to use this .EDU account to log in to Microsoft services. Is there any way to recover the password, or do I need to create another new account? Thanks for your help.

My email contact list in Windows Live Mail 2011 (Windows 7) disappeared from my access when I changed my email address in my Microsoft account. Can I recover this, and how?

Hi,

Movie maker doesn't allow to open .xesc files from Microsoft Encoder screen capture to edit. I have seen this file types are not supported by Windows Movie Maker. Any one has a suggestion on editing .xesc files ? Is Microsoft coming up with any updates for Windows Movie Maker to edit XESC files ?

I forgot my free main hotmail account password as I updated software on my Iphone and had to log in after years. Can't recall the password to get on the hotmail account on my laptop either!

Microsoft on the phone promised to a call back and still nothing heard. Despite also emailing on the website-- answers Microsoft and completing recovery forms there has been no progress. I have been verified and the password keeps being sent to historic email addresses not used for years,despite me completing details of the correct active email set up for the link to be sent to.

I keep being told to complete recovery forms by escalation advisors when I email them. On doing this, I then am informed they have too many requests by me and to close the account!! The account is over 8 years old and very active, I can't close it.

I simply want them to send the reset link to me at the correct email address.

I'm not getting anywhere, going in circles and really need access to my main account. The advisors just say the same thing and aren't doing anything to help me.

Microsoft confirm they have verified my details, I have done all they have asked me to but yet nothing is changing and they are failing to support me to resolve the issue.

I have not had access to important information I have received via email and this has made things really difficult.

I can't fill out anymore recovery forms as reached limit and they won't send the reset link to the correct account....

Please help me .... What can I do ? I need my account....

Microsoft Servers Are Down, AGAIN

I have not received any new Outlook email in my Kindle Fire HD email app since Nov. 6. I went to isitdownrightnow.com to test my server name, blu-m.hotmail.com. Not surprisingly, the site has been down since the 6th. The same thing happened in August and Microsoft acknowledged the problem and they did fix the issue, temporarily. Now, there is no acknowledgement of a systemwide problem they have to know exists. Also, m.hotmail.com and s.outlook.com are down, also. These are all Exchange servers, as far as I know.

Cannot close my Outlook account

I am so tired of your email accounts, twice with in one week I have had to close a account because it keeps sending old mails out again every 1 to 3 minutes the first one was 7000 mails over a period of 2 days and now it starts all over again with my new account which I by the way can not close. Why can I not close my account I keep getting the message that I have to deactivate my Hotmail account well I do not have a Hotmail account just this two day old outlook account that started to resend old mails today after only having been open for a day and a half. My antivirus is up to date and the laptop also. I am using another product from Microsoft, Windows 7 on my laptop ( it came with Windows 8 but that program is a total disaster for a laptop). I hope someone can help me since the support from regular Outlook/Microsoft just ignores my inquiries.

Outlook email about account hacked?

I received an email yesterday stating that a change of password had been requested on my account and gave a code to allow the change to happen.

No such change was requested by me, the account holder, so I am very doubtful about the email. Especially so as it was sent to the 'standard' *** Email address is removed for privacy *** account and not the email account set for security purposes! Further, it gave a 'link' to https://account.live.com so as such links are frequently suspect with spoofed or hidden redirections I manually typed that into my Firefox browser. But nothing happened! It apparently attempted to access the URL but nothing appeared for quite a while, until I got an error message saying the server was too slow in responding. I tried 5 times yesterday with the same non-result.

This morning I tried yet again and got exactly the same non-result! So in desperation I tried using IE8, and got in almost straight away! Why didn't it work with FF25? It MUST work in ALL browsers surely as I should be able to access that page from my Ubuntu Linux system that only uses Firefox and IE is not available for that platform, or is this yet another example of Microsoft trying to dictate what software people use?

Anyway, I managed to change my password for safety - but still no other confirmation request messages and I can access all my Microsoft accounts with the new password without any other confirmation!! That's surely not safe enough? Especially in view of the fact that such a 'confirmation' notification had been sent but to the wrong email address!

There seems to be something very odd happening that makes me very uncomfortable with the whole Microsoft Office, and especially hotmail.co.uk, systems and shows to me that Outlook.com is definitely NOT any safer than previous web-browser-based email systems and that your current advertising is at least misleading and maybe totally wrong and hence illegal in the UK.

Comment from the Outlook.com team please?

Hello.

I wans't sure if i should post this as a new question or respond to an older post.

I have two email adresses, one is from my old business and has been used for Microsoft services such as Xbox Live, Microsoft Store etc. But i do not recive mail with it. The other is an @outlook.com adress that i do use for mail. Since my business is no longer in operation and since i have gotten a Windows Phone i find it even harder to juggle the two accounts since i have my purchases on one account and mail on the other, i would like to merge the two if possible, getting rid of my old business account and keeping my new @outlook.com adress and have all my purchases, xbox live service, skydrive, etc on just one account.

I have a Hotmail account dating back to the 1990s. Along the way I have used it for Microsoft store purchases, TechNet memberships and now the Microsoft store for Windows 8.

I would like to move to an outlook.com account and not use the Hotmail account anymore. Presently I have an outlook.com alias- I think I registered/set up on Outlook.com when it was first made available.

I was wondering how that can be done. If I need to call in to make those changes - I am not sure who/where to call.
