My Windows live mail wont’ send emails

I get the following message:
An unknown error has occurred. 
Subject 'Update on Kate :)' 
Server: 'smtp.gmail.com' Windows Live Mail 
Error ID: 0x800CCC0B 
Protocol: SMTP 
Port: 465 
Secure(SSL): Yes

What do I do? 

My Windows Live mail contacts are freezing

Ever since MS switched to Outlook.com, my Windows Live Mail Contacts freeze up when I click on a contact.  Any ideas?
